His eyes stayed fixed on the moving crowd around them.

People laughing. Talking. Walking past without noticing anything.

that disturbed him more than panic would have.

“You said it spread,” Raghav muttered. “What does that mean?”

Subject 07 answered quietly:

“It didn’t stay a sound.”

Raghav’s stomach tightened.

They moved through the station exit into the rain-covered streets.

Cars passed slowly beneath neon reflections.

But something felt wrong.

Small things.

Tiny pauses.

A woman crossing the road stopped mid-step for two seconds before continuing normally.

A delivery driver stared blankly at a wall.

A child whispered softly to himself:

“Ding… dong…”

Then smiled for no reason.

Raghav noticed it too.

His grip tightened harder.

“What did they do to people?”

Subject 07 finally looked at him.

And his answer came almost like regret.

“They made emptiness easier to enter.”

🧠 Dr. Meera’s Discovery

Across the city, Dr. Meera sat inside a hidden archive room beneath an abandoned medical facility.

Dust covered everything.

Old experiment records. Patient tapes. Psychological evaluations.

Most had been destroyed.

But not all.

She inserted another recovered tape into the recorder.

Static crackled loudly.

Then—

a voice spoke.

Old. Calm. Clinical.

“Phase 3 begins tomorrow.”

There was a third phase?

The recording continued.

“Residual behavioral infection confirmed.”

Meera’s breathing slowed.

“Exposure through observation, repetition, and memory now possible.”

The tape hissed softly.

Then one final sentence:

“Once enough minds carry the pattern… the signal sustains itself.”

Meera stopped the recording immediately.

Her hands trembled slightly.

Raghav suddenly stopped walking.

A sharp pain hit behind his eyes.

He grabbed the side of a building.

“You hear it sometimes now,” he said quietly.

Raghav glared at him.

“What did you people do to me?”

Subject 07’s expression remained empty.

“You stayed near the signal too long.”

The pain worsened.

For one terrifying second—

Raghav forgot where he was.

The street blurred.

Voices stretched strangely.

And somewhere deep inside his thoughts—

a soft sound echoed.

Ding… dong.

Then—

a memory appeared.

Not his own.

A dark hallway. Someone screaming. A hand opening a door slowly.

Raghav staggered backward.

The vision vanished instantly.

“What was that?!” he shouted.

Subject 07 looked disturbed.

Genuinely disturbed.

“That shouldn’t be happening this early.”

Rain intensified around them.

People continued walking past.

Unaware.

Or pretending to be.

Then suddenly—

a man across the street stopped moving completely.

Frozen.

Still.

His shopping bags slipped from his hands slowly.

Raghav stared.

“What’s wrong with him?”

Subject 07’s face darkened slightly.

“He’s listening.”

The man slowly lifted his head.

His expression empty.

Then he turned toward traffic—

and stepped forward.

Brakes screamed.

People shouted.

Metal crashed violently.

Chaos erupted instantly.

But even during the screams—

the man never reacted.

Never tried to survive.

Raghav stood frozen.

Horrified.

“What the hell is happening to people?”

Subject 07 answered softly:

“The signal is finding the empty parts faster now.”

Sirens echoed in the distance.

Crowds gathered.

Phones recorded everything.

And that was the worst part.

Because every recording—

every replay—

every repeated memory—

spread the pattern further.

Meera realized it at the exact same moment inside the archive room.

Her eyes widened in horror.

“Oh God…”

She grabbed the experiment notes desperately.

Because the final line now made terrifying sense.

“A mind infected by the signal becomes a carrier.”

A carrier.

Outside—

the rain continued falling over the city.

Over thousands of people.

Thousands of minds.

Some stable.

Some already beginning to open.

And hidden somewhere among them—
