Bored to Death

“I’m bored…”

Those were the last normal words I ever said.

At exactly 4:17 PM, a man collapsed three streets away. Heart attack, they said. Random. Unlucky.

I didn’t think about it much.

Until it happened again.

“I’m so bored,” I muttered the next day, scrolling endlessly on my phone.

Minutes later, sirens screamed past my house.

Another death.

This time, closer.

A strange feeling crawled into my chest.

No… it couldn’t be me.

Right?

I tested it.

“I’m bored.”

Silence.

Then—

A loud crash echoed from outside.

A bike. A boy. Blood on the road.

My hands started shaking.

“No… no, no, no…”

I stopped saying it.

I stopped talking.

Days passed.

I stayed quiet.

But boredom isn’t just words… it’s a feeling.

And that’s when I heard it.

A whisper.

Not outside.

Inside my head.

I’m bored.

I froze.

“I didn’t say that…” I whispered.

But the voice repeated it.

Louder.

I’m bored.

Sirens.

Again.

Tears streamed down my face as I covered my ears.

“Stop… please stop…”

But I couldn’t stop thinking.

And every thought…

killed someone.

Now I sit alone in a silent room.

No phone. No people. No sound.

Because even a single thought…

can end a life.

I’m not bored anymore.

But somehow…

that feels even worse.
