The fire Klein had stoked didn't just warm the cave; it seemed to push back the very concept of winter. Elsa sat stunned, her rejection by Kazuto still ringing in her ears, but the presence of this new "Reborn" was a jarring distraction she desperately needed.
The Flame of the Reborn
"You're like her," Kazuto said, his eyes narrowing as he watched the embers dance. "But you're... different. Shino is all cold numbers and blueprints. You feel like a bonfire."
Klein laughed, leaning his massive claymore against the cave wall. The blade was etched with runes that glowed a dull, volcanic orange. "That’s because Shino is a 'Logic-Type.' Me? I’m a 'Will-Type.' Back on Earth, I wasn't a scholar. I was a guy who liked the heat of the moment. When I woke up here as a Fire Mage, I didn't try to calculate the mana—I just told it to burn."
He looked at Elsa, his gaze softening. "I heard the heart-to-heart. Rough break, kid. But the fact that you’re still standing here in broken armor tells me you’ve got more 'Will' than you think. You’re gonna need it. Gallow-Glass isn't just a fortress; it’s a living equation maintained by your friend’s mind."
The Plan: Thermal Infiltration
Klein pulled a piece of charcoal from the fire and began sketching a map on the flat stone floor.
"The Void-Scribe has set up a [Zero-Point Ward] around the fortress," Klein explained. "It’s a field that drains the kinetic energy out of everything. If you try to run in there, you’ll turn into a statue before you reach the gate. Your swords won't even swing."
"Then how do we get close?" Elsa asked, her tactical mind finally clicking back into place.
"We don't run. We melt," Klein grinned. "I can wrap the three of us in a [Sol-Shroud]. It’s a high-level fire cloak that creates a pocket of high-energy chaos. It’s the only thing Shino’s 'Logic' can't predict because it’s purely random heat. While I hold the shroud, you two have to reach the throne room."
The Knight’s Vow
Kazuto stood up, his hand hovering over his hilt. "The Memory Orb. Malphas keeps it on a pedestal right next to his throne. If we break it, does she come back instantly?"
"It’s gonna be like a system crash," Klein warned, his expression turning serious. "Imagine four years of memories, emotions, and 'data' slamming into a brain that’s been hollowed out. It won't be pretty. She’s gonna break, Kazuto. Hard."
"I don't care," Kazuto said, his voice hard as iron. "I’ll be there to catch the pieces."
Elsa stood up too, her hand reaching for her cracked rapier. She looked at Kazuto, acknowledging the 'sister' bond he had offered. "And I’ll be the one to break the glass. I’m the one who shattered her confidence; I’ll be the one to shatter her cage."
Into the Violet Dark
The trio stepped out of the cave. Klein raised his hand, and a swirling vortex of orange flame erupted around them, forming a shimmering dome that hissed against the supernatural blizzard.
In the distance, the spires of Gallow-Glass pierced the violet clouds. High atop the battlements, a silver-robed figure with vacant white eyes looked toward the ridge. She tilted her head, her obsidian staff humming as it detected a "Thermal Anomaly" that defied her calculations.
"Unknown variable detected," the Scribe whispered to the empty wind. "Commencing adjustment."
"Hold on tight, kids," Klein shouted over the roar of his own flames. "We’re about to crash the Demon Lord’s party!"
