"Oh my! Oh my! It started to hatch!" She exclaimed.
Inside the massive green forest it was a log waited day for the two Whistling thrushes. The couple waited tirelessly till their off springs bloom to this world. It was just a new chapter for them again. Inside the cone shaped nest which was on a branch carefully secured in a tree, two bird eggs were lying motionless.
There, two new members started appear through them. Two little heads started to appear through the broken areas of the eggs shell as the two small birds squinted at their world for the first time and even saw their parents. With the delight about their new members the Whistling thrush whistled a merry tune which echoed throughout the great forest alerting every bird about the good news.
The time went by as the little baby thrushes grew under their parents’ care and ate earthworms which were brought for them by their parents. The two adults searched for food and protected their children. From dawn to dusk they cared about their children very much.
Finally, it was time for their practice on how to fly. The grown little Whistling thrushes played with each other and slept together and finally it was time for them to take action on their flight.
The eldest between them stepped forward out of the nest for the first time and spread its full-grown wings. It thought it was a piece of cake but, Oh! Reality struck when it tripped and started to fall from the high branch. Luckily the male thrush noticed before its life was wasted. The parents were very worried about what happened.
"I don’t want to lose you too. Our kind won’t survive if you two can’t make it." The mother thrush advised knowing their present situation.
They were not their first two babies but more than the tenth baby of theirs. None of those children of them were able to survive. They had to undergo many pains as their babies were destroyed by many evil forces like snakes and falcons.
The two little birds attempted many times and also fell many times. Their parents were always by their side. They were able to fly inside their home tree within days and their attempts were very successful. However, it was the time for them to explore the outside world and also to learn how to be self-sufficient and survive alone.
“I’m sure I’ll be the first to be fluent with my flying skills and also I’ll catch my first prey,” the eldest announced with pride and was ready to give his first try on seeing the outside world.
The youngest bird, inspired and intrigued by the new experience, set off to fly. The two adult Whistling thrushes watched together sitting on the tree how their children had grown.
The outside world was a beauty for the new thrushes. They finally got to know about the great blue sky, long rivers, greenish lands and the blazing sun. There were other birds everywhere. The forest spread in every direction around them. They enjoyed their first flight in the outside world. The youngest bird kept itself near the eldest without losing its sight.
But the greatness was completely turned over as danger struck when a predator’s presence was heard nearby.51Please respect copyright.PENANAq3Q7zVj34L
A powerful shriek of a bird was heard all over. The two little newcomers were never used to this kind of danger. The predator was none other than a Shaheen falcon.
“Ahh! It is my lucky day! Happy to see a delicious little prey after a long time in my territory. A little fun after a long time!” the falcon was delighted on finding one of its most delicious preys.
The little thrushes were searching for their own meal and hardly noticed a threat was incoming. The youngest bird spotted a small earthworm and also was lucky to catch a glimpse of the Shaheen falcon. The youngest was able to avoid its incoming fate but the eldest bird wasn’t so lucky enough.
The Shaheen falcon stooped and clasped the flying eldest thrush by its legs and flew away. The poor little thrush had to face its fate on his first day of flight. The youngest thrush caught its prey and quickly reached its parents to tell what had happened.
The parents were heartbroken and understood one of their babies has been killed by the falcon again. They are powerless to stand against their threats. Now there is only one baby left of theirs. Their kind is being threatened badly over the years again and again. The youngest thrush knew that they must be more careful and avoid being caught by evil forces.
The following day, the little Whistling thrush went again to fetch its meal. However, the falcon appeared out of nowhere and noticed the little thrush. The little thrush was now fluent with its beautiful tune and it also was used to detect predators. The bird detected the falcon on time. The falcon stooped towards the bird, with a fierce shriek, directed its sharp claws at the thrush.
The thrush froze in place till the falcon attacked and made a move, flying into a tree. The falcon failed to grasp its prey and flew up again. The Thrush observed the falcon hiding inside a tree.
“Hmm! I’ll give mercy this time, you little fellow. There won’t be another time,” the falcon roared in anger and flew away until it disappeared from sight.
The little thrush came out of its cover and claimed victory. It made itself not being a prey of another bird. It went to its parents and told about its victory. The thrush was able to overcome its predators and was able to carry on the generation of their kind without being extinct.
