The truth is sharp. Try not to bleed.

In a city where the rain only mirrors the grime, Detective Shino Fragile is an anomaly. Lean, gaunt, and deceptively pale, she earned her nickname because she looks like she’d break under a stiff breeze. But Shino is made of tempered glass: impossible to scratch and sharp enough to draw blood from anyone who handles her wrong.

When Roland Bloom—the titan of the city’s digital infrastructure—is found dead in his fortress-like manor, the brass wants a quick, quiet closing of the file. Heart failure. Natural causes. But Shino sees the "glitch" in the scene: an oily residue on a scotch glass and a widow, Ai Hitomi, whose grieving mask is a little too perfect.

Before the first report is even filed, the manor becomes a kill zone. Trapped in a high-tech estate turned into a tomb, Shino must protect the woman she suspects of murder while being hunted by professional hitmen. From the gold-leafed foyer to a sub-basement laboratory housing a terrifying new chemical weapon, Shino must navigate a web of corporate conspiracy where the air is freezing, the shadows are lethal, and the truth is the most dangerous weapon of all.

In a world of cold-blooded killers, Shino Fragile is the only heat left.
