The air in Level 9 was thick with the scent of ozone and the sound of charging repulsors. Garder West’s Anti-Meta squad stood like a wall of cold steel, their weapons leveled at me and the V-Team.
"Stand down, Victoria!" West commanded. "This is about global security. If these powers aren't contained, the world will burn!"
"It’s burning because you’re scaring them, West!" I yelled, my green shield flickering as it absorbed a warning shot.
The tension broke when Marcus, the Pyro-UMA, let out a scream of pure desperation. The dampener collar on his neck began to malfunction, unable to contain the surge of his fear. A pillar of white-hot fire erupted from him, melting the ceiling and causing a massive support beam—ten tons of reinforced concrete—to buckle and collapse.
It fell straight toward Garder West.
West froze. For all his technology and tactical genius, he was just a man. He closed his eyes, bracing for the impact.
He didn't die.
Marcus had lunged forward. He wasn't using his fire to destroy; he was using the heat to create a localized thermal updraft, while his hands, glowing like molten gold, physically caught the beam. The metal on his hands hissed as it seared his skin, but he held it. He saved the man who had imprisoned him.
"Go!" Marcus wheezed, his eyes bright with tears. "Get out of the way!"
West scrambled back, staring at the boy in shock. I flew forward, manifesting two Green Energy Pillars to take the weight of the ceiling, allowing Marcus to drop the beam safely.
The Resolution
Silence fell over the corridor. The soldiers lowered their weapons, looking at West. West looked at Marcus, then at me. He saw the burn marks on Marcus’s hands—marks earned by saving an enemy.
"He could have let it kill you," I said softly, my armor retracting. "But he didn't. That’s not a 'Class-3 Anomaly,' West. That’s a hero."
West took a long, shaky breath. He walked over to Marcus and, with a trembling hand, used his override key to click the dampener collar open.
"I spent my life fighting monsters from other worlds," West said, his voice hollow. "I forgot that the greatest monsters are the ones we create out of fear." He turned to the V-Team. "You were right, Victoria. We can't cage the future. We have to guide it."
The Birth of West Corp Academy
Six months later, the "Detention Center" was gone. In its place stood the West Corp Academy for Meta-Development.
The facility was now split into two distinct wings:

| Section | Name | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Wing A | The Academy | A high-tech campus where UMAs like Marcus learn to stabilize their powers and earn degrees. |
| Wing B | The Vault | A high-security ward (The Jail) for those who use their UMA gifts for murder or global terror. |
The Double Life

Despite the Academy’s success, the V-Team stayed true to their "Normal Life" vow.
At Sherwood High, we were still just the "Misfit Group."
* Leon still swam for the varsity team, though he now secretly mentored the younger water-UMAs at the Academy on weekends.
* Avan was the Academy’s "Energy Professor," but he still had to show up for detention at Sherwood High for "accidentally" blowing the school's WiFi router.
* Elizabeth worked closely with her father, turning the "Secret Service" into a peacekeeping force that protected UMAs from hate groups.
* And me? I was still Victoria Vega. I sat in the back of History class, sketching new armor designs while the Watch hummed against my wrist.
My father, Detective Vega, was now the official liaison between the Police Department and the Academy. We didn't have secrets anymore. On Friday nights, the V-Team would meet at my house for tacos, and my dad would tell us about the latest "Meta-Crimes" we needed to handle over the weekend.
Peace had finally come to Sherwood City. But in the deep shadows of space, the Queen of the Dark Multiverse was finishing her preparations.
"They've built a school," Dementra’s voice echoed through the rift, watching the V-Team through a scrying pool. "How charming. They are gathering all the power in one place... making it so much easier for me to harvest it all at once."
