The meeting took place far from the noise of Hogwarts.
Dumbledore had chosen the location carefully.
Not the Headmaster’s office.
Not the Great Hall.
Not even the usual council chambers used when Ministry officials visited.
Instead, the gathering occurred in a small but ancient stone chamber hidden behind a concealed passage near the Headmaster’s tower. The room had been used centuries ago for private negotiations between the founders and the earliest magical families of Britain.
Tonight, it served that purpose again.
Heavy oak doors stood shut, their runic locks glowing faintly to ensure privacy. Inside, candlelight flickered across old tapestries depicting the four founders of Hogwarts.
A large circular table dominated the room.
Upon it rested three objects.
The Moonstone Ring.
The Lunar Haven trunk.
And the Sunstone Ring.
Mira Silverthorne stood beside them with quiet composure, though her heart beat far faster than she allowed anyone to see.
Across the room stood the two men whose approval might change the future of magical society.
Lucius Malfoy.
Tall. Impeccable. Coldly elegant in dark robes trimmed with silver. His long pale hair fell perfectly over his shoulders, and his walking cane rested lightly in one hand.
His grey eyes missed nothing.
Beside him stood another man.
Broader. Darker.
Theodric Rowlehart, head of House Rowlehart, one of the older pure-blood houses whose influence rivaled even the Malfoys in certain circles of magical politics.
His hair was streaked with iron-gray, and his sharp green eyes examined everything in the room with the careful calculation of a strategist.
Behind Mira stood her sister Isolde, serene but watchful.
And beside them—
Draco Malfoy.
Draco looked unusually serious for a first-year.
Lucius had insisted Draco attend.
“You will observe,” he had told his son earlier, “This may be history.”
Now Draco stood slightly behind Mira, arms crossed but clearly attentive.
At the far end of the room stood Dumbledore, Snape, Madam Pomfrey, and Professor Flitwick.
They were present not as authorities—but as witnesses.
Lucius stepped forward first.
His eyes rested on Mira.
“My dear Miss Silverthorne.” His voice was smooth as polished marble, “When you requested this meeting, I assumed you had something… intriguing to show us.” His gaze shifted to the trunk, “I see now that your definition of intriguing may be rather… ambitious.”
Theodric chuckled softly, “Let the girl speak, Lucius.”
Mira inclined her head respectfully, “Thank you for coming, Lord Malfoy. Lord Rowlehart.”
Lucius gave a slight nod, “You have my attention.”
Mira placed her hand gently beside the first object.
The Moonstone Ring.
“Then I will begin.”
The moonstone glowed faintly under the candlelight.
Even Lucius noticed immediately.
His gaze sharpened.
“Moonstone of exceptional purity,” he observed.
“Yes,” Mira said, “The stone was carefully selected for its resonance with lunar magic.”
Theodric leaned closer, “Jewelry is rarely worth this level of secrecy.”
Mira met his gaze calmly, “This ring is not jewelry.”
She lifted it.
The gemstone shimmered softly like liquid silver.
“This is the Moonstone Ring.”
Lucius folded his hands over his cane, “And what does this ring do?”
Mira answered without hesitation, “It allows werewolves to remain sane during their transformations.”
The room fell silent.
Lucius did not move.
But his eyes hardened slightly, “That,” he said quietly, “is a very bold claim.”
Isolde stepped forward beside Mira, “The ring stabilizes the mental and physical stress caused by lycanthropic transformation.”
Theodric frowned slightly, “How?”
Mira placed the ring gently on the table again, “Traditional understanding assumes the madness of werewolves is unavoidable.” She gestured to the ring’s silver band, “But the real cause is magical instability.”
Flitwick nodded slightly from the back of the room, “She is correct.”
Mira continued, “When the moon triggers the transformation, the body undergoes rapid magical restructuring.”
Snape crossed his arms, “The body resists the change.”
“Exactly,” Mira said, “That resistance causes pain and psychological collapse.”
Lucius spoke again, “And the ring solves this?”
Mira nodded, “The moonstone resonates with lunar energy.” She pointed to the engraved runes along the ring’s interior, “These runes stabilize emotional and magical fluctuations.”
Isolde added, “They create a controlled pathway for the transformation.”
Lucius studied the ring carefully, “You are suggesting… painless transformation.”
“Yes.” Isolde confirmed.
“And retained sanity.”
“Yes.”
Theodric leaned forward, “Have you tested this?”
Mira slid several parchment documents across the table, “Multiple times.”
Lucius picked up the first parchment.
The name at the top read:
Remus Lupin
Lucius’s eyebrow lifted.
The testimony described the transformation process.
The absence of pain.
The clarity of mind.
Lucius turned the page.
Auror Korrin Silverthorne
Another detailed testimony.
Controlled transformation.
Stable consciousness.
No violent impulses.
Lucius lowered the parchment slowly, “This is… extraordinary.”
Theodric had already begun reading the next document. He looked up in surprise, “Pomfrey supervised the medical evaluation?”
Madam Pomfrey nodded, “I confirmed the results personally.”
Lucius turned to Snape, “You observed this as well?”
Snape’s expression was unreadable, “I did.”
Lucius slowly exhaled. Then he looked at Mira again, “You have my attention.”
Mira placed her hand on the trunk, “This solves the second problem.”
Lucius studied it, “A trunk.”
“Yes.”
Isolde stepped forward, “This is the Lunar Haven.”
Theodric examined the woodwork carefully, “Dimensional runes.”
He looked impressed.
Mira opened the trunk.
Darkness shimmered inside.
Then slowly shifted.
Revealing moonlit trees.
A forest.
Draco blinked.
Even though he had seen it before.
Lucius leaned closer, “…A pocket dimension.”
Mira nodded, “Two square kilometers of forest habitat.”
Theodric stared into the trunk, “You built this?”
“With help,” Mira said.
Lucius’s voice was quieter now, “And its purpose?”
“Privacy.” Mira closed the trunk again, “Werewolves deserve a place to transform safely.” She pointed to the runes along the lid, “When the transformation begins, the trunk locks automatically.”
Theodric asked, “From inside and outside?”
“Yes.”
“And it opens at dawn.”
Lucius nodded thoughtfully, “A containment chamber disguised as a refuge.”
Mira shook her head slightly, “Not containment.” She gestured to the forest within, “Freedom.”
Lucius watched her carefully, “…Interesting distinction.”
Isolde lifted a slender metal key.
The Crescent Key.
“This is the emergency access.”
Theodric examined it, “And who can use it?”
“Licensed healers and aurors.” Isolde replied.
Lucius nodded slightly, “Reasonable safeguards.”
Mira pointed to a glowing rune carved near the trunk’s lock, “This rune allows healers to monitor the werewolf’s physical condition.”
Pomfrey spoke quietly, “It functions like a medical diagnostic charm.”
Lucius raised an eyebrow, “You designed a complete safety system.”
Mira nodded, “Yes.”
Theodric slowly smiled, “This is remarkable.”
Finally, Mira lifted the second ring.
The Sunstone Ring.
Amber light flickered inside the gem like captured dawn.
Lucius’s eyes narrowed, “This one is not for werewolves.”
“No.” Mira placed it gently on the table, “This is for vampires.”
Theodric leaned forward, “And what does it do?”
“It allows them to walk in sunlight safely.” Mira replied.
Lucius stared at her.
For several seconds he said nothing.
Then he asked quietly, “You are serious.”
“Yes.”
Theodric chuckled in disbelief, “Miss Silverthorne… you are proposing to remove the single greatest weakness of vampirekind.”
“Yes.”
Lucius studied the ring, “How?”
Mira pointed to the gemstone, “Sunstone contains dormant solar magic.” She traced the runic engravings along the band, “These runes regulate exposure.”
Snape spoke quietly from the back, “I witnessed the test.”
Lucius glanced toward him, “With whom?”
Mira slid two more documents forward.
Nyx Silverthorne
Lord Cassian Duskryn
Lucius looked surprised, “You tested this on the Warden of the Twilight Court?”
“Yes.” Mira confirmed.
Lucius read the testimony slowly. Then placed the parchment down, “…And he walked in daylight.”
“Yes.” Mira confirmed once more.
Theodric let out a low whistle, “My dear girl…” He looked at the ring again, “You may have just changed the balance of magical politics.”
Lucius leaned back slightly, “One question remains.”
Mira nodded, “I know.”
Lucius’s voice was calm but serious, “If vampires can walk among us during the day… their need for blood does not disappear.”
“Correct.” Mira confirmed.
“And if that need continues…”
He didn’t finish the sentence.
“They will still hunt.” Mira answered anyway.
Lucius nodded, “Precisely.”
Mira smiled slightly, “That is why we propose something else.” She placed another parchment on the table, “Blood Banks.”
Theodric blinked, “…Explain.”
“Voluntary blood donation programs.” Mira spoke clearly.
Lucius stared at her, “For vampires.”
“Yes.” Mira confirmed.
“The blood would be stored magically to preserve its properties.” Isolde added
Theodric rubbed his chin thoughtfully, “You would replace predation with regulated supply.”
“Yes.” Isolde agreed.
Lucius slowly nodded, “That would reduce attacks on both wizards and Muggles.”
“Exactly.” Mira agreed.
Dumbledore smiled faintly, “An elegant solution.”
Lucius looked impressed, “You have thought this through very carefully.”
Theodric finally asked the question both men were thinking, “How did two students create all this?”
Mira exchanged a glance with Isolde. Then she answered, “We had help.”
Lucius raised an eyebrow, “From whom?”
Mira reached into her satchel.
And placed a dark blue diary on the table.
Silver ravens decorated the cover.
Lucius recognized it instantly, “…Helena Ravenclaw.”
“Yes.” Isolde spoke softly, “She guided us through many of the theoretical frameworks.”
Lucius studied the diary with renewed interest, “A founder’s daughter… advising first-year students.”
Dumbledore chuckled quietly, “Helena has always appreciated brilliant minds.”
Lucius looked back at Mira, “I see.”
Silence filled the chamber.
Lucius Malfoy stood slowly.
He looked at the Moonstone Ring.
The Lunar Haven.
The Sunstone Ring.
Then at Mira.
“You understand the implications of what you have done.”
“Yes.”
Lucius nodded. “Good.” He turned toward Dumbledore, “These inventions cannot remain hidden.”
Dumbledore smiled, “I suspected you would say that.”
Lucius looked back at Mira and Isolde, “I will present them before the Wizengamot.”
Draco’s eyes widened.
Theodric stood as well, “And House Rowlehart will support the proposal.”
Mira’s breath caught.
Lucius continued, “These creations represent progress that even the most conservative factions will struggle to oppose.”
Draco finally spoke, “Father… you’re serious?”
Lucius looked at his son calmly, “Draco, history favors those who recognize opportunity.” He turned back to Mira, “And Miss Silverthorne has provided one.”
Mira bowed her head slightly, “Thank you.”
Isolde did the same.
Theodric smiled warmly, “You have our House’s full support.”
Lucius added quietly, “As your proxy, I consider it my responsibility.”
Mira smiled, “I’m grateful.”
Draco looked at her with newfound respect, “You really did it.”
Mira looked at the rings, “Yes.”
For the first time, she allowed herself to believe it.
Change had begun.
And the world would never be the same again.
