Dear Lucio,
I couldn’t miss my Monday appointment with you. Thanks for your words of encouragement and your prayers for me and Jason. Have you seen the photos? Isn’t he handsome? I know, I have already told you that I feel like a teenager with her first love, but Lucio, I am so happy I think my heart could explode.
You know that I had some boyfriends in the past, with one or two I thought I could start something really serious, but I think that my dad told you, as he often told me, that he would understand that I had found the real, the true one when he saw a different light in my eyes. Now there is a different light in my eyes, can you see that in the photos?
Today is Thanksgiving day here in Canada and there is no school. I have just returned with Jason from Niagara Falls.
Yesterday, we had a big celebration because Andy and Grace Cooper, the parents of one of my best students, Meg, renewed their wedding vows after twenty years. Andy was the one who went to prison for that murder I talked to you about, but luckily, he was released after Jason arrested the real murderer and now they are the happy family they have always been.
After the mass and the refreshments, Jason and I left with one of his agents, David Hogan, and his wife, who have a small cottage not far from Niagara Falls. Sue Hogan is recovering after therapy against cancer, but she is better and they invited us to spend Thanksgiving with them. They are really nice and we had a wonderful evening yesterday. I made Tiramisu and they all liked it.
This morning, I went with Jason to see the falls, they are really spectacular and breathtaking. We took a boat that brought us as far as it was safe near the falls. I was a little scared because they were really imposing. The colours of Autumn are incredible. I enclose a lot of photos, I hope you like them.
We had lunch at a restaurant overlooking the falls and then we drove back home.
Now Jason has had to go to the police station to catch up with his papers and I am correcting my students’ homework.
When I went with Jason last week to Father Mark to tell him that we had decided to be a couple or at least to try to get to know each other better, he didn’t say it clearly, but he hinted at the fact that he will confirm me as a teacher next year.
I hope so, but now I know that my place is next to Jason and that, Italian teacher or not, I will remain here.
Are you really thinking of coming to Canada? It would be wonderful! Please say you will. Father Mark and Jason send you their love. Pray for me, Lucio, I am asking the Lord and the Virgin Mary to teach me to be able to stand beside Jason in every moment, to be able to give him the support he needs and to be grateful for the love and tenderness he is bestowing on me every day. I am so lucky.
This is my new happy life.
Love,
Yours truly,
happy Miriam’
