It was the summer of 1850 , the "Social Season" of regency London royalty reaching its peak .
With a ball hosted by yours truly , King James Andrew the II , ruler of the current reigning monarchy and a nobleman of lavish , luxurious excursions.
The ball was more for the making of political alliances, then it was to celebrate the 32th birthday of the King .
However the notion did not mean that the ball couldn't look splendid .
With golden chandeliers hanging from the ceiling of the old palace, a monument of the ages and home of decadent artistoctats, it was as if the room dared to replicate the rays seen at dawn , the light rivalling that of the sun's .
Chairs had been put , not randomly of ofcourse but perfectly aligned at each table , hosting different groups nobleman whom were stuck in heavy conversations and various topics of debate , all to demonstrate intellect and understanding which some lacked yet nonetheless continued .
The Lady's and mistresses from various prominent families perfumes mingled permeating the atmosphere, as if hoping to arouse their husbands to hunger and more .
Whilst some ambitious women sought to steal from one another , younger girl's of age swelled with hope , patiently biding their time for the "perfect suitor" to arrive at thier homes with a proposal for their hand afterwards.

However , one small lady sat quietly in a chair .
Hands propped onto her lap and eyes docile yet burning with curiosity , swinging her small stout legs that neither touched the ground and yet dangled of the much too big chair .
Her cherubic little face set in a frown , trying in all seriousness she could muster to present herself in an orderly manner that contradicted her age. Brown hair styled into two neat pigtails adorned with yellow hair accessories.
She looked like a young sunflower in a field with tall blades of grass . A young strong stem that swayed in the breeze bending and turning yet never breaking .
The wind would soon blow harder .
Little Clara Lawrence had begged her parents to take her to the seasons biggest social ball hosted by the king . She couldn't bear to stay at home with all the lousy servants and her mother's drunk brother .
Her uncle was an "unkempt man" as her father would say out of hearing range from her mother's ears . He was the disgrace of the Malderin family , the child raised "Wrong" who was " crazy and spun whimsical tales of another world " .
Little Clara however believed the opposite of those words , drunk as he was always , he for some reason always knew where things were .
It was first when she lost her toy and had demanded the whole household be put on pause for their responsibilities and collectively search for her toy . It was noontime and yet her toy had not been found , she hadn't particularly cared for that specific toy , but because Mary from the Lockwood family also had one , she too wanted to have one .
A maids head hit the ground that day and just as another was to follow , the toy was found .
By her " stupid " uncle's room in a corner .
She was livid . She'd recieved a bad scolding that day for hiding her toy and causing a "big fuss" among the household and crying wolf .
Yet , she knew that she never stuffed the toy in that corner near her uncle's room , she had put it in her grandfather's study , atop the highest shelf she could see.
Meaning that the only perpetrator that could have moved it was her uncle , who too frequented her grandfather - his father is study .
And yet he was supposedly only supposed to know the way to the kitchen winery .
He didn't.
And this fact enraged Clara , because he wasn't following protocol and in turn took away her spotlight .
Little Clara Lawrence was too small and ignorant to realise how more dangerous a wolf in sheep's clothing was than simply stealing her attention.
She'd soon realise that her attendance at the ball of the season would cost her more than she thought.
