A panting, sweat-soaked rickshaw puller struggled through the tight passages under the scorching heat. People rarely asked to be carried straight through the market. Still, the pay was steady — and it didn’t matter that the client looked like a walking landfill.
The driver had seen all kinds of things in his line of work. This didn’t surprise him. What did knock him flat was the amount he’d been paid.
So he worked for everyone and instead of everyone.
The pace suited Grey. He had already absorbed part of the cart’s frame, and he liked the coarse material it was made of. Lovely contours. Superb craftsmanship.
It should be bought as well, after surveying the current market.
He felt genuine pleasure traveling inside his closed mini-world — a formed ecosystem that no one had invaded yet.
One could make calculations, estimate approximate prices, examine the quality of goods. All potential participants in future deals were here too. He would speak with them a little later, once he deemed the merchandise truly worthy.
