Everyone says hell is hot. It’s really not, the expression “when hell freezes over” is false. Hell’s already unforgivably cold, and silent. Not what you expected, huh? It’s depressing, you can do what you want, but the cold seeps into your bones. The cold numbs your mind, makes it feel impossible to do anything. It gives an almost exact replica of depression, and some people are more affected by it than some. It all depends on what you did to end up in hell, and guess what? To go to hell, you don’t have to be dead, all you need to do is be banished to it. Crazy, I know, but welcome to the world of Elysynn.

Elysynn is a continent that is rich with greenery, fauna, culture, and is surprisingly agricultural, but it’s also the continent that borders the veil of hell. It’s mostly made out of towns filled with cottages, wanderers towns if you will. These towns are normally located on the roads to the main cities. Everfall, the city where the world’s veil is thinnest between hell and us. Florathorne, the most agriculturally important and successful. Varathil, the closest of the main cities to the waters, bordering the Agrybyssian (Ag-ra-bisy-ian) sea, but it’s better known for its seaport and poison markets: smuggling, crafting, and selling all different kinds of poisons. Definitely don’t try to eat anything near the water there, just more souls to collect. And finally, Aridhold, known for its impressive rocky mountain terrain that can only be passed through the roads carved into it. Aridhold is the driest of the main cities, and the one that’s furthest from Varathil.

Each main city has two ruling families, one is the face of the town, akin to royals, they’re the face of excellence, of perfection in each town. The other family however is much, much darker. They are the ones in charge of the under city, akin to mafia families, they’re the ones who control most crimes in the city and surrounding areas, they’re also the ones everyone fears. Now normally these families are constantly fighting on each side of the coin, the face of the city and the under city. Now the face city and the under city are all part of the same city, they’re just different sections. And most visitors stay in the face city where everything is much safer.

Wanderers towns are spread throughout the continent, and they are all traveler towns. This means each town must have a leader who works in the taverns part time, and they must respect all guests until the guest hurts, attacks, or disrespects the town or leader. If the guest does so, the leader is allowed to exercise force to remove the guest from their town, and the guest can never return to that town to stay the night. Each town has at least one tavern with guest rooms for boarding, and another building for overflow guests.

Now that you know a little geography, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Thanatos, and I’m from Sablehaven. Sablehaven is a small town about six days travel from Varathil, and it’s one of the most profitable poison markets. But I’m willing to bet you don’t know what secrets lay buried in Elysynn.
