The school auditorium was buzzing with excitement as the students set up their science projects. All the projects were amazing and it was hard to win. Amy’s heart thumped in her chest as she placed her river cleaning robot. She had worked on that project for weeks, carefully crafting it with cardboard and precision spray work. The muddy brown colour of the cardboard had turned into a beautiful royal silver colour by the spray paint. Her project had a self powered motor, a wheel to pick the trash up and a net so the trash could be put inside the machine.
Across the room, Amy eyed her friend Chelsea, who was also setting her project up, which was a model of the cells in our body and how they worked. Chelsea’s project had also been analysed briefly. Chelsea’s project stood out to the entire crowd. Amy smiled, holding her breath, hoping that she would win. She if her river cleaning robot could impress the judges as much as Chelsea’s cell structure. Both of their projects were like a breath of fresh air.
As the judges strolled in they went to Amy’s project first. “What have we got here, ?”the judges asked. “This is a model of a river cleaning robot.” Amy briefly explained her project confidently. The judges were fascinated by Amy’s project and said, “your project is as good as gold.” Amy was bursting with excitement, thinking that she maybe had a chance to win.
As the judges walked around scribbling notes, Amy realised that winning is not that important as long as you tried. Then the judges announced that it was time to declare the winner. The winner was Amy, her eyes lit up with tears of joy and went to redeem trophy. In the crowd, Chelsea was clapping loudly for Amy. Amy was bursting was excitement. Amy realised that you should always try hard because hard work always pays off.
