Chapter 3: Settling In
The next morning, Maya awoke to the sound of birds chirping outside her window. The first day had been a whirlwind, but today she felt more grounded and ready to delve deeper into her new life at Lucknow University. She had a full schedule ahead, but she was eager to embrace every opportunity.
Maya's first class of the day was Introduction to Literature. As she walked into the lecture hall, she spotted a familiar face—Priya. They waved at each other, and Maya took a seat next to her. The professor, Dr. Kapoor, had a warm and engaging presence, and soon the room was filled with discussions about classic and contemporary works.
During a break between classes, Maya and Priya sat under a sprawling banyan tree, enjoying the shade and chatting about their favorite books. They discovered they shared a love for Jhumpa Lahiri's novels and exchanged recommendations for must-read titles.
The afternoon brought a mix of lectures, seminars, and a lively debate session in her Political Science class. Maya found herself drawn into the discussions, feeling more confident to voice her opinions and engage with her classmates.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Maya decided to explore the campus further. She wandered through the well-manicured gardens, past the serene lake, and into the bustling student union. There, she stumbled upon a board filled with flyers for various clubs and activities. One in particular caught her eye—a flyer for the Creative Writing Club. Excited by the prospect, she made a note to attend their next meeting.
Back at her dorm, Maya felt a sense of contentment as she reflected on her day. She had begun to find her rhythm and was making meaningful connections. With a smile, she realized that Lucknow University was starting to feel like home.
