It had been a few months since Dora had been freed of Calvin, and things couldn’t have been better for her. She had nobody to boss her around now, a huge farm all for herself, and a sizeable secret stash of gold bars.
She had already used up some of them to get lots of workers and professionals to look after the farm, but she still had plenty more.
Dora woke up every day happy and excited, still getting used to these changes in her new life. She didn’t like her old life, where she was bossed around by Calvin, but deep, deep inside her, she felt the slightest, faintest feeling of missing him.
A week later, Dora got a phone call that sabotaged her perfect life. It was Calvin’s relatives.
“It’s been seven months since Calvin’s visited me!” exclaimed Pandora, Calvin’s mother. “And my Calvin visits every month! What have you done to him?!”
Calvin’s other relatives called. His grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins… The calls were all similar. They all asked where Calvin was, and warned her if he didn’t come in time for his next monthly visit.
“I shoulda known!” thought Dora, furious with herself. “Calvin goes visitin’ each of his folks every single month! Land sakes… I’m in awful trouble.”
