The relief supply truck had left Kendrapara district headquarters on time and was supposed to reach Palanpur by the evening of 23 May 2025. Torrential rain on the way did not allow it to make it on time. It was around 12:00 noon on 24th May when the truck finally arrived near the secured area.
All the people had gathered near the truck, pushing each other. The security personnel were trying to keep the situation under control. But the growing unrest among the public can be sensed. They all could sense it.

Suddenly rumors started running among people that 'officials are hoarding goods in district headquarters. That was the reason for the delay.'
There was an undertone of anger now. A boy, out of anger, took a stone and threw it towards the nearest policeman he could see. The policeman, to curb the situation, lifted his lathi towards that boy. The anger became evident. Soon the whole area was covered with stones and lathis.
The public is trying to break the barricades with its force to enter the secured zone.
Policemen with their lathis trying to keep them away.
Amidst all this ruckus.
People entered with bottles of kerosene.
Someone brought a matchstick.
Fire erupted in places.
The mob descended into mayhem.

Jahnvi could hear this ruckus within the dispensary. Unable to concentrate on her work, she decided to check what that was.
She strode towards the exit.
What she saw when she came out was horrifying.
The crowd was out of control. Policemen looked helpless, and panchayat bhawan's security was under question.
Stone pelting, lathi charge, fire eruption.
She froze.
The lawless scene that was unfolding in front of her eyes was terrifying.
A chill ran down her spine. Was this what Captain and Reeta were referring to that day?
Terror. She felt terror that silenced her breath.
She was trying to absorb the scene that was unfolding in front of her eyes when she saw a stone flying in her direction.
'Oh no. No. No. No.'
Her brain froze. Her eyes closed reflexively.
Her reaction time was too high to get away without getting hurt.
'Jahnvi, run, run, run!
But before she could, an unexpected force pushed her away.
She fell on the ground.
Bruises on her knee.
A fraction of a second later, when she looked up to see what it was,.
She saw Captain.
With blood erupting from his forehead.
Looking at her direction.
"GET. IN. NOW."
He shouted. She compiled.
She ran as fast as she could towards the dispensary gate.
Someone shouted, "ADITYA SIR!!!"
With an urgency in his voice, she turned around to see what it was.
What she saw widened her eyes.

Captain was standing where she was a moment ago.
There is a trail of smoke approaching him.
A meter away, a petrol bomb collides with the ground.
Smoke. Everything is filled with smoke and dust as the bomb blasts.
A second later, when everything is clear.
Aditya is not there.
He is not in her sight.
She is terrified. Speechless. Frozen.
In her right she hears the cry of a child, covered in blood, crawling towards the medical camp.
Medical instincts kicked in.
She runs towards that kid, grabs him, and runs towards the dispensary.
---
As she entered the dispensary with that child.
Everyone was shocked. But no one had to question her to know what was going on.
Soon the dispensary started filling with people with injuries and blood.

When Aditya entered the camp, the ruckus that he saw mimicked the ruckus that was in his brain at the moment.
It did not take more than a second to realize what was happening.
He saw stones. Fire. Panicked crowd. People falling. Scattered belongings. Broken barricades. Injured people.
And Jahnvi. In the middle of the crowd.
Fear engulfed him, and he ran toward her. Pushing her aside. A stone hit his forehead, causing sharp pain and profuse bleeding.
Before he could even touch his forehead, Rawat shouted, "ADITYA SIR."
He looked up and saw a glass bottle filled with petrol towards him. Smoke trailing from it. Petrol bomb. He dived in the direction of the building.
He ran and reached there.
His brain had already planned out events.
His command
"Subedar Vikram, form a human wall along with CRPF. Shield the main entrance at any cost."
Vikram and CRPF Jawans complied; he could see that through his peripheral vision.
"Rawat, on loudspeaker now. Tell the public rationing is safe and everyone will get a share. This is a warning—anyone who tries to enter by force will face consequences".

"Rhea on top. I want an estimated number of people. Ask NDRF to grab fire extinguishers."

"Thapa, along with police and army jawans, identifies stone pelters. Don't engage unless absolutely necessary. Do not hit civilians blindly."

"Aarav rescued the elderly and children behind the medical tent. Take some men if needed."

"Inspector Sen, call off your men from swinging sticks. They escalate, we all go down. Get your constables in line!"

Before turning, he commanded Aarav, "Protect Jahnvi and her team. No one touches the dispensary. That's the last safe point."

Firm. Loud. Clear.
He himself ran towards the truck to help policemen protect it from the crowd.
