I woke up in my room in the Hyperspace after a nap. It was a short one, but one I really needed. After all, a man can be pretty tired after thwarting two evil schemes during a single day!23Please respect copyright.PENANAj1RoiCmd44
I slowly got up from bed. It was very comfortable, which made it tempting to stay. However, Einstein was about to tell us something important and I didn't want to miss it. So, reluctantly, I put on my casual clothes and left the dorm. The "flying" cars were fully operational again, so I could sit down and relax as I was guided to the meeting spot. I got some time to think.23Please respect copyright.PENANAWGiqlweFyB
The Perseids did escape, without a single member caught. However, the end of this mission could have been much worse. Multiple times.
Firstly, we could have died in the trash compactor, if it wasn't for Arika's quick reaction. Secondly, Leonid and his group could have killed us numerous times over the course of both missions. Thirdly, if we didn't notice the draining oxygen, everyone would have suffocated, excluding those who fled the station earlier. Fourthly, I could have messed up the navigation and the Hyperspace would have crashed, not only killing thousands, but also putting the crash site in danger. Finally, we could have died in the vacuum of space in several gruesome ways. We could have been annihilated in the spaceplane's explosion, suffocated when the oxygen supplies would eventually run out, or something could have hit us hard enough to cut our spacesuits.
Overall, I was very happy to be alive.
A few minutes later, I arrived at the meeting spot. Arika was the only one waiting there for the time being. She had swapped out her uniform for a pink t-shirt and short, white pants. Her utility belt was still there, just in case something were to happen.
- Hi! - Arika welcomed me as I slowly emerged from the car.
- Hello! Where are the others? - I was a bit confused.
- Oh, they're still on their way. We'll have to wait a bit... - she giggled - How are you?23Please respect copyright.PENANAH3tkudQipy
- I'm a little sleepy, but being sleepy is better than being dead... Other than that, I feel pretty good. How about you? - I replied.
- Pretty nice. That mission was exhausting, but at least I got some time to relax before I go on my next one - Arika sighed.23Please respect copyright.PENANAbiZOIF6yHg
- Wait, you're already going on another mission? - I gasped.
- Yeah, they don't give you much downtime in this business, especially when your mission is so important. I'm going to China to investigate a coding machine, which could change the outcome of the war... It sounds pretty boring compared to today. That spacewalk was a bit terrifying, but still fun - Arika smiled slightly.23Please respect copyright.PENANAQQN742UBeQ
- Well, I can only wish you a good mission - I nodded. Investigating a secret coding machine sounded fun, but I could understand why Arika considered it boring, knowing that she wanted action.
- Thanks!
Time seems to flow much faster when you're busy and that was the case right now. Amber and Sebastian suddenly arrived, with Einstein soon joining them. With our group complete, the meeting began.
- Hello, kids. Did you relax a bit after that extreme mission? - our caretaker asked. Most of us nodded, but Sebastian yawned instead.23Please respect copyright.PENANA6jOLYI3iHQ
- Not really. I was still stressed even after it ended - he said.
- I get it, that was awfully tense for a group of junior agents... - he replied in a sad tone. He felt responsible for our current condition.23Please respect copyright.PENANAkARXeio3yk
- Great thing you arrived for us, we would have died otherwise. Thank you for noticing our signal, Eins... Edward - Amber tried to cheer him up. We joined in, thanking him as well.
- Oh, you can call me Edd - he smiled briefly - Anyhow, the Perseids are gone for now. Even though they escaped, they probably won't be a threat to you for a while. Our adult agents are on the lookout. I don't know what they're doing, because they only report to Nigel and he's cross.
We knew about that. Captain Nigel stormed off after bringing us back to the Hyperspace, saying that "I need to process your recklessness alone, otherwise, I'll yell at you for hours!". I got the impression that he'd actually like to do that, but he left us anyway.
- A special guest is coming, let's welcome him! - Einstein broke the silence. We turned around and saw the AI supervisor approaching.
- Good evening, brave children. I came here to thank you for saving the entire space station while I was sedated. Those horrible people - he meant the Perseids - sabotaged the power grid to circumvent the security systems and get closer to me. While I was busy with work, they injected my coffe with a sedative that put me out of commission. They took control and true chaos was unleashed. Their main plan was to suffocate everyone, including Richard Diaz. The collision course with Earth turned out to be a failsafe in case somebody came over to shut down the so-called Sunset Protocol. If it weren't for you, this would have been a great disaster. I have no idea about your sources, from which you got to know about that evil scheme, but I'm greatly thankful for foiling it. This truly means a lot for me - after that, he left us. No more talking, just a monologue.23Please respect copyright.PENANA4XfltH5diR
- What happened to Claudius? Is he in the Hospital? - Sebastian asked.
- Oh, I almost forgot. Let's go visit him - Einstein confirmed.
Along the way, we went through the Orbital City. Several large robots were brought in to rebuild the ruined infrastructure. Many of them resembled the conservation robots from the Robot Bay. Before we went further, we stopped by the gift shop. Buying stuff in a building that had a hole in the wall was a bit strange, but the gifts were cool and free for us, in return for saving the space station. I got a keychain with a miniature Hyperspace. After we finished the shopping, we went up to the Hospital.
Einstein led us into the doctor's office, his eyes filled with concern. Upon knocking on the door, the robo-doctor opened it for us.
Claudius was lying on a medical bed. His eyes were open, but he seemed even more tired than us. A claw-like apparatus was dangling above his head. Did he undergo surgery?
- Your friend, Claudius Garcia, needed a support arm. He'll recover enough to get up in a few hours, but for now, be gentle and avoid dangerous situations. He needs to be safe to prevent further injury - the robo-doctor informed us before leaving the office, leaving us with Claudius.23Please respect copyright.PENANAUelEQmDrp6
The latter soon unveiled a metallic attatchment to his right arm. At first glance, I thought it was a prosthetic, but it supported his wounded arm and allowed it to move normally.
- Hi guys - Claudius turned to us - I'll need to wear this thing for a while. Several months, maybe even a year. That aside, it's so good to be alive - he told us and we nodded in response.
Suddenly, Arika's phone beeped.
- Oh dear, they're already calling me. I must to go. It's really a shame that I can stay with you for a longer time, because you're good company in the spy business - she checked her utility belt to see if her equipment was there.
As the others focused on Claudius, Arika came over to me.
- See you later, space pilot. Hopefully I'll be able to join you for a future mission - she shook my hand, smiling, and then left. I came back to the others.
- So, what will happen with us once Claudius heals? - Sebastian asked out of the blue.23Please respect copyright.PENANAdqgo7tCje9
- Is there another mission? - Amber joined him.
- While your space spy career has just began and there will be a mission eventually, for now, you'll come back to Earth - Einstein announced.
