To anybody on the outside,
I managed to finish the game on time, at least for this month. It took longer than I expected; a single bug costed me several days of progress. New Year's Day is an estimation, not a guarantee. The project might be released on that exact day, but I might get stuck on something else.
I wanted to start this project with something that would challenge me. A few lines of dialogue wasn't enough, I needed to take it further. That's when I started working on the game.
I structured the game's content easily, but I knew nothing about navigating scenes, adding or using items inside an inventory, or adding choices that did things. I looked for references online, but the framework it was built with, didn't have much to go off of; it was made for designing websites, not to serve as a game engine, so I could only help myself.
It took most of November to figure it out, and when I did, that's when I came across the game breaking bug. This bug took me the rest of November to troubleshoot, and it was caused by a single variable not resetting to zero.
It was such a simple problem that made me feel stupid, but little did I know, the bug would return even stronger. Once I got it to reset the same scene, I noticed the next scene, containing more dialogue this time, was only showing half of the lines.
Two days later, I realized this was caused by the array's length not resetting. This took a while to solve. I couldn't reset it manually for some reason, so at some point I thought, maybe I can refresh the file from within the click function, and so the bug was finally defeated.

It was smooth sailing from there. I managed to create events using conditionals, and add items to an inventory by making a simple function. The only thing left to do, was design the rest of the assets, since I was using myself as a placeholder sprite. That took a whole day's worth of work, but finally it was finished, and it looked wonderful.

I'll likely add more to this game in the future, when the prologues are finished. It will likely contain multiple endings, and the inventory will become scrollable. After all, there is a lot of sub-sections and floors to VoidDrive TEC.
