This short story was born out of my lifelong love for eerie childhood tales, the kind that make you want to pull the blanket over your head but still peek out, just in case. I grew up reading Goosebumps books by R.L. Stine and wtching some episodes of "Are you afraid of the dark" on Youtube. Both of those series had a way of mixing the everyday lives of kids with something just a little… off. Something lurking just beneath the surface.
I wanted to capture that same feeling here, an ordinary sibling bedtime turned into something far stranger, darker, and scarier. Like a lost episode of Goosebumps that was too weird to air, or a midnight story told by a camper huddled around the fire on Are You Afraid of the Dark?
