To think back, back before this great burden,

this mischievous mental depression,

which, like grave illness, disillusions all,

hadn’t weighed heavy; a black cloud, rainy,

absent of simple hope - a deserved thing -

is a pursuit I hadn’t thought to take.

This not for lack of care - survival first!

But I feel, while under its evil spell,

I am it; gone, lost amongst awful thoughts;

only my burden, the weight on my heart,

which whispers my voice, can be remembered.

I, awoken in my own mystery,

surrounded by disparate, absent eyes,

whose heads hide out of sight, behind near trees.

I am to make sense of this, to wonder -

I’ll mind aside - if this was always me?

Was there a day before there was darkness?

Or has my heart always held this burden
