My story isn't filled with those kind of monstrous events that make you say, "Wow! That's horrible! You had every right to fall apart! Okay, now let's see how Imam Hussain helped you."
My story is full of ordinary events, and ones that are beyond ordinary (and a few that you might also find painful).
If some lives are like war movies, then mine might seem like a teenage drama.

*But as I say,
The issue isn't the event itself.
The issue is the meaning it holds for you."*

The event itself isn't important; the meaning it held for you is.
(This thought crystallized for me when I saw Ted Lasso and finally understood why soccer is so important to some people, while more significant things are happening in the world. It was then that their soccer-related struggles made sense to me. Why? Because they shared a common ground with the sufferings of war and loss and crime: human interiority... including emotions, thoughts, and abstract matters of that nature.)
So, yes.
My story matters too.
At least as much as a soccer game does.
My life isn't a battlefield, but in my mind, there are always many wars raging. And I am always fighting.
And I will tell it.
And I will tell you:
In this story,
if you have any fondness for the main hero—who is me—
you should know who to thank for her.
(Of course,I still have many challenges left before I become that hero :)
And in reality,
the main hero,
the only true hero,
was never, and will never be, me.

So who is he?
That's what I'm going to tell you.
