The Russian Moon Base had a similar structure to our base, but it was cleaner, due to being built a few years after the American one. The suspicious guy entered through an airlock that led into a big dome, presumably the central one.
- Oh, we're late! - Dawn was infuriated - We could have caught him!
- There's no way we can enter that base. It's enemy territory - Jeff sighed.
- Leave it to me - Amber replied through the radio. It's then that we noticed she left our base and was following us.
- You have a plan? - I asked her.
- Yes I do. I asked Einstein if we could get fake Russian ID's to sneak into their moon base. He said yes. We can infiltrate it and find the suspect - She responded happily.
- Okay, but we must leave the machines behind. Those will only bring us unnecessary attention - Added Dawn.
- Indeed. Sebastian and Claudius will join us soon. For now, let's get closer to that building - Amber pointed at the big dome.
We left our vehicles behind, much to LunAI's dismay.
- Please return to the machines and continue to work - said the AI. We ignored it and it kept repeating this phrase until it was shut down mid-sentence.
- You don't have to thank me - Claudius smiled, having turned off the communication lines between us and LunAI. Sebastian soon joined him. We were ready to sneak into the Russian Moon Base.
We reached the airlock and realised that it wouldn't open. There was some kind of sensor on the left. Amber walked up to it and stood in front of the sensor for a few seconds. The door opened and we entered the base.
- How did you do that? - I asked, curious.
- They use holographic ID's instead of normal ones. Instead of showing a physical card, you can stand in front of the scanner and it will look through the code to identify you - She replied.
That's when we noticed the suspect.
We identified him with the scratch on his left arm. He took off his spacesuit and we saw him wear a different black jumpsuit (with the logo of the Russian Moon Base). He also had black hair and ice blue eyes. The suspect soon encountered a middle-aged man who had a face more emotionless than Captain Nigel, if that's even possible. The man's face was incredibly pale, lit up only by freckles and bright blonde hair. He, like all the other people in this base, wore a black jumpusit. The man said something to the suspect in russian, so we didn't understand him.
- The supect's name is Yasha and he is a programmer of some kind - Amber told us and upon seeing our confused faces she added - I know russian.
- We must somehow lure in Mr. Yasha and question him - Sebastian ordered us.
- Because kidnapping and interrogating an enemy agent on enemy territory is very easy - Claudius added sarcastically.
- Hold on, guys - I started - This guy is a programmer. Maybe we can lure him in with a fake task?
- Good idea, but how do we give him a fake task? It's the emotionless man that gives the orders here, not us - Jeff noted.
- I think I can help with that - Claudius replied and Sebastian shot him a glare that said "Elaborate".
- I can break something in here, which will force him to come and fix it - He whispered.
- Ok, let's do that - Sebastian replied and we got to enacting our plan.
First, we just explored the base and tried to spot any other suspicious things, but didn't notice anything of relevance. The hallways were very clean and had large windows, through which you could look at the barren lunar landscape. The walls were sleek and white. Many people, mostly adults, passed by us, some looking at us with suspicion, others with happiness.
- I think that we should split up, because snooping around in such a large group might look a little strange - Dawn stopped.
- Okay, take some of this - Amber gave them a few cans filled with some kind of hazardous substance.
- What is this stuff? - Vincent asked.
- Sleeping gas. We'll find a map of ventilation shafts in this base and you'll spray it through the right one, so that the gas will flow to the room with Yasha and nowhere else - Amber hissed.
We finally split up our forces, with our unit going to the right wing of the base, with unit 208 heading to the left. We had to find a map of vents and luckily stumbled upon a detailed sketch of the facility in a small room labelled as the "Maitenance Room". I made sure that nobody was watching us as we slipped in. The room was smaller than my dorm in the academy, and it was barely lit, so the dark grey walls were almost invisible. There were several items in the Maitenance Room, including a mop, an empty bucket, a damaged spacesuit and a few other things. The one that interested us was obviously the map. Claudius took a photo of it with his smartphone.
- I decided that we'll cause the breakdown in the AI research lab, because that is a small room that will be easy to flood with gas. Come here, Sebastian - He said. Sebastian came closer and glanced at the sketch.
- What am I supposed to do? - Our leader asked.
- Tell the members of unit 208 to spray the gas through shaft C1, as that is the correct one - Cladius smirked. Sebastian grabbed his walkie-talkie and called Dawn.43Please respect copyright.PENANAx4GDb0IieX
- Hello, can you hear me? This is Sebastian - He started.
- Yes, I can hear you. What's the matter? - Dawn asked.
- Spray the gas through ventilation shaft C1 when we give you the signal. There should be a label on the grate. I'm telling you now so that you'll have time to find it while we set up the trap - Sebastian intructed her.43Please respect copyright.PENANAyp3DBnUCIW
- Ok, we'll find it. Bye! - Dawn ended the call.
We were about to leave the Maitenance Room when we noticed that Amber was gone. We left the room and looked around. Sebastian was about to call her when she appeared behind us, holding four spacesuit helmets.
- What are those for...? - Sebastian asked, covering his shock by Amber's sudden appearence.
- You don't want to go to sleep along with the suspect, right? - She asked in a playful tone.
- No, we don't - We replied in unison. Amber handed out the helmets and we soon came to the AI research lab. The walls were extremely clean and bright, just like the rest of the base. Several laptops were lined up on the pale blue table, with greyish chairs accompanying them. There was also a holographic projector hanging from the ceiling, pointed at the wall ahead of us.
- Now it's my time to shine - Claudius smiled. He opened his toolbox and it was then that we noticed he carrying it with himself all the time. He broke off the panel on the "belly" of a small robot, hidden in the conrer of the room, revealing a tangled mess of red wires. He just cut them all and the machine went insane. It started driving around the room, knocking over a few things along the way. We left the room and put on our helmets. As we expected, Yasha came to fix the "malfunction". We recognized him by his voice.
- Ahh, I'm tired of this stuff - He sighed in russian whilst grabbing the robot.
- Now - Sebastian said through his walkie-talkie.
Soon enough, we heard the hiss of gas leaking through the vent, followed by Yasha's gentle collapse onto the ground.
- Good job, Yasha is asleep - Sebastian smiled.
- Ok, bring him to the Maitenance Room, that's where we'll interrogate him - Dawn replied before hanging up.43Please respect copyright.PENANAhU4WtpvkNT
We entered the AI research lab and closed the door behind us, making sure that the gas won't leak out of the room. We grabbed the unconcious body of Yasha and carried him out of the room, making it seem like we were bringing him to the medical room, but turning at the last moment to enter the Maitenance Room.
Unit 208 was already waiting in there, with a chair placed in the corner of the room. We dropped Yasha on it and waited for him to wake up, so that we can interrogate him.
