Fortunately, the L-class rover was faster than the H-class one, so we caught up to the Lunar Express pretty quickly. Now, we could see clearly that Dawn was in the cabin, though we didn't know where she was going. Suddenly, she turned around and noticed us. She spoke to someone and focused on manoeuvring the train.
Then, a massive man emerged from the wagon by our side. He looked furious and had a gun, but it wasn't a laser blaster; it was just an ordinary rifle, which was unusual, as blasters were far stronger. The guy fired a few times, but it didn't seem to do much at first. Then the alarm screamed, "OXYGEN DEPLETING: 90% LEFT".
- We have spacesuits, so this isn't a problem, right? - I asked, concerned.
- We should be fine - said Claudius, and then added quietly - Maybe.
The big guy kept firing at us, making the oxygen deplete even faster. Now, there was only 50% left. Still, we kept going, knowing that this won't stop us. All of a sudden, the giant man leapt and landed on the roof of our rover. We thought that he wouldn't break through it, but then he started ripping off pieces of dusty metal with his bare hands. He was about to enter the rover. Luckily for us, we had some spare laser blasters lying around. We quickly grabbed them. Surprisingly, Yasha took one too. When the giant man broke in, we were prepared for the assault. The only issue was that our counterattack wasn't well-coordinated, so we were firing randomly, trying to hit the man. We broke a few things in the rover, which included the alarm, so at least the annoying sound of the red buzzer won't continue to distract us. The man punched Sebastian in the face, slightly cracking the glass on his helmet and rendering him unconscious. Then, I had an idea. Amidst the chaos, I shot a weird-looking apparatus that was placed behind the big man, in the back of the rover. The device glitched, sparks flew, and then it exploded, yeeting the big man out of the rover.
When the dust settled, we noticed two things: firstly, the backside of the rover was completely ripped off by the explosion, replaced by a big gaping hole, and secondly, the giant man was still holding onto a metal bar that remained relatively untouched by the blast. The man's face was red from fury, but his rifle flew away and was left in the distance, so we at least disarmed the enemy. However, he lunged forward and almost crushed me with his massive body, but Yasha pushed him away and looked surprised by the fact that I wasn't as flat as a pancake.
- Thanks - I replied quickly.
Amber jumped onto the man and started rapidly punching him as a distraction. The aggressor retaliated by grabbing the girl with his enormous hand and nonchalantly throwing her against the wall, which severely weakened her. Before the evil man could finish her off, Yasha came back and kicked the guy out of our vehicle. As he tended to Amber, Claudius and I remembered about Sebastian, who was still unconscious, sitting against the left wall of the rover. We checked his oxygen tank, and to our shock, only 33% remained. First, Claudius covered up the crack with his hand to prevent the oxygen from depleting further as I scrambled for a solution. Meanwhile, the train got further away, but Amber sat down as the driver and started catching up by driving like a maniac. Nobody would get hurt as there wasn't anybody else in the area, excluding the people aboard the Lunar Express.
- Ouch! - Amber exclaimed, and when we turned to her, she added - I hit my foot on something hard...
As Yasha took a look at the object she hit, it turned out to be one of two spare space helmets that were mandatory aboard a rover, in case of a dire emergency. The current situation was a dire emergency, so I grabbed a helmet and replaced Sebastian's with it. We waited for him to heal as Amber got closer to the train. After two nervous minutes of silence, his green eyes opened. His face was as pale as the wall behind him, but at least he was alive. He was breathing speedily, trying to absorb the air that he had missed out on during his time out.
- Are you okay? - Claudius asked.
- As okay as I could be in this situation, yes - Sebastian replied.
- Why didn't you jump away from that man when he attacked you? - Yasha asked him.
- I can't focus on what I'm doing. I'm too distracted by the fact that we were so easily tricked by Dawn into trusting her. We should have noticed that... - He sighed in response.
- I know that it's hard for you, but you must focus. We need to complete the mission and capture Dawn - Yasha cut him off.
- Which will be hard, considering how many people are aiming at us - Amber added. We all turned to the front window at the same moment, only to see four people aiming at us with laser blasters. We couldn't see their faces clearly due to the moon dust covering the window, but one of them fired at us. Suddenly, the rover stopped in place. Thanks to this, the pellet of light missed us, but we couldn't continue the chase.
- OXYGEN HAS DEPLETED TO CRITICAL LEVELS. PLEASE ABANDON THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY! - LunAI exclaimed, with their simplified face appearing on the control panel.
- Not now! - Amber got angry upon realising that it was the AI that stopped the rover by force.
- PLEASE ABANDON THE VEHICLE NOW! - LunAI opened the rover's door. Claudius grabbed a screwdriver and stabbed it into the screen, disabling LunAI. The rover wouldn't start anyway, and we were stuck in place with the train still moving.
- We must abandon this vehicle and jump onto the wagon from the roof of the rover. When I scream "Crouch!" you crouch so you don't get pierced by lasers - Sebastian has regained his confidence. With no other option, we left the rover and got to its roof through the hole that the man had ripped in it. With little to no chance of success, we jumped onto the wagon. It took a second for the enemy agents to notice us, but they were ready to fire. Lasers flew in the air as Sebastian said, "Crouch!". We followed his order and weren't hit by any of the pellets. Still, we had the four people ready for a second round. Furthermore, they were getting closer to us. When I got up, I had a woman in her late twenties point her blaster at my head. Spontaneously, I kicked her, and to my surprise, she fell off the train and tumbled.
- Nice one, Chr...! - Yasha didn't finish his sentence as he was thrown overboard by the giant man from earlier. We were surrounded.34Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡueDV314kOy
As all five of them opened fire, we ducked again and hoped that we'd survive. I turned around to see that the others were still alive, but the giant man jumped and tried to crush us, but flew a bit too far due to the low gravity and landed on two of the enemy agents. We jumped over them, avoiding the pellets shot by the other two villains. We made it to the next wagon. All five of the enemies got up and were about to shoot when the wagon they were standing on detached itself and rolled back across the track, catching the enemy agents off guard.
- What was that? - I asked.
- I hacked into the train and detached the wagon at the last moment - Yasha replied through the radio. As we found out, he was still alive and came back to the rover from where he used his programming skills to hack the train - Unfortunately, I couldn't do much more, so it's up to you to capture the mole - He finished.
We crawled across the train, eventually reaching the cabin. We opened the hatch on the roof and dropped into the cabin, surprising Dawn. Sebastian leapt at her and knocked her off the seat, with the rest of us trying to regain control of the train. Sadly, there were too many levers and buttons for us to understand how to steer this thing. To make matters worse, Dawn had her own laser blaster and almost shot Claudius.
- Leave me alone, you morons! You'll wreck this thing! - She screamed. We were pressing random buttons, hoping to stop the train. We were near a building, so we didn't want to cause unnecessary damage. Unsurprisingly, the train derailed and tumbled into the wall of the building. We were spinning around and around like in a washing machine until the train completely crashed and we all blacked out...
