I remember the 

first time I 

opened my eyes—

Plain white canvas 

stretched 

before me.

It grew as I did.

When it wasn’t enough,

I made more room to dream.

Then came a brother,

a sister,

another brother.

We were four.

Mine was the biggest—

oldest privilege—

and for a while,

I wore that like a crown.

Then came 

brushes and ink.

With my mother’s 

hand on mine,

I learned to draw—

to shape,

to imagine.

They watched.

And when I slipped,

they stumbled too.

So I walked better,

painted clearer,

erased less.

canvas grew 

too small.

world’s door.

I stepped out.

Reality didn’t wait,

but I brought 

pieces back.

the truth—

twisted, 

strange,

sometimes beautiful.

their own canvases

I smiled.

I was proud.

with my mother’s calm,
