In today’s push for equality and empowerment, society has made significant strides in uplifting the girl child and rightly so. However, amid this essential progress, the boy child has quietly faded into the background. His struggles are often overlooked, his emotions dismissed, and his identity misunderstood.
From a young age, boys are told to "man up," to hide tears, to be strong but rarely are they taught how to be vulnerable, emotionally intelligent, or expressive. As a result, many grow into men burdened by unspoken pressure, silent depression, and unchecked anger.
Educational systems have focused on balancing the scales for girls, yet boys continue to fall behind in literacy, mental health support, and mentorship. At home, some grow without fathers or male figures to guide them. In relationships, they are expected to be providers, protectors but who is protecting them?
We’re raising a generation of boys who are emotionally starved, misunderstood, and left to navigate a world that doesn’t offer them safe space. This isn't just a boy issue it's a societal issue.
The conversation must shift. The boy child needs mentorship. He needs encouragement. He needs permission to cry, to dream, and to heal. Let's stop the silence. Let’s bring balance.
Because forgotten boys become broken men and broken men build broken homes.
