Raven, the Legendary Hero of Fin is checking on thing in Longthorn dock. A place that is bustling even in the dead of the night with cargo ships drop off and taking goods all across Fin. The lady uncharge of Flintmace Dock is Okeabera who is a member of Raven’s dwarf family. She is not one for sticked rules, she just likes things to run smoothly and her five boys help out wherever they can to keep goods moving. Their uncle Raven is a stunning Dark Elf who towers above them and is easily spotted in the crowd of with his long pearl white hair reflecting in the moonlight dressed in a loosely fitted cream coloured shirt and black trousers. Most outsiders do not like the way he seems to just appear for his heavy boots never make any sound on the wooden walkways and his use of magic is beyond anything anyone has seen from any elf.
This evening a small ship is coming into the busy dock and is guided by a tug into a spot near the shore and caves. The captain is keen to find the legend and it is not long before he comes face to face with him.
“Emm… err, I just realised I don’t even know how to address you,” expresses the captain full of nerves.
The hero gives a kind smile and replies, “Just call me Raven and I am sure you also have a name, you don’t go around being called captain, hmm?”
The captain emits a soft chuckle and quickly replies, “No, no, my name is Kearic.”
Raven extends his right hand. “Well, nice to meet you, Kearic.” They shake hands and the legend continues, “Are you needing my help with something?”
“Well, that’s the thing I don’t know if you can help. Please come with me and I will explain on the way.”
The dwarfs around them immediately grow suspicious of the Forest Elf’s proposal and quickly surround the dark Elf making him chuckle and express, “My family are just a little concerned what you are planning to do with me, giving who I am after all.”
The captain quickly performs a deep bow and stresses, “I will not put the Legendary Hero in any danger, it’s just that I know he is the only one who might be able to help a creature… I believe it is a dragon.”
One of the dwarfs removes his pipe from his mouth and asks, “A Sea Dragon is it ye spy?”
“Yes… it seems to be not moving, I fear something might be wrong with it,” explains Kearic full of worry.
The legend moves his family to one side and answers, “All right, take me to it.”
The captain quickly escorts his esteemed guest to his ship that looks tiny compared to the large cargo ships along side it. Once aboard he makes sure his guest is seated within his cabin and gets his men to return to the spot they saw the creature.
Inside the cabin Raven finds the illumination stone too bright for his sensitive eyes, that are more accustomed to the dark, so with one waves his left hand the once bright light dims and once his eyes have adjusted to the gloom he notices Kearic desk is covered in maps. He takes a closer look to discover they are sea charts of the best route for the small ship to pass through, for he knows some of the seas around Fin can be deadly for anything this size. However, the small vessel begins to rock quite badly as she makes her way across the sea and from experience he knows they are crossing a section known as the Sidewinder for it has a tenancy to push ships from side to side and if they are not careful make them head for Black Cove Cliffs that surround an uninhabited island. A large jolt makes him go on deck to find they are heading to a small rocky outcrop that lies to the right of the cove and he starts to see a small blue shape is upon one of the large rocks.
“Raven, I don’t think we can risk getting any closer,” expresses Kearic, getting his men to drop anchor.
The legend pats him on the arm and reassures him, “This is fine, don’t risk the lives of you or your crew. I can see from here it is a baby dragon. Is it all right if I perform an incantation, for it might damage the decking.”
“Seriously, anything you need to do is fine with me,” responds the captain feeling quite proud to have the hero leave a mark on his deck.
Raven draws his right hand up towards chest as he starts to utter a spell, extending the first two fingers, then throws his hand to the deck and the moment his fingertips come into contact with the wood an incantation shoots out around him. A few seconds later the deck takes on a soil like consistency and out of it rises a giant hand in the shape of a claw. Each of its fingers are decorated with simple gold and green jade rings. It flexes before it rolls over to hang in front of its master who, without saying a ward, sends it out towards the rocks to gently pick up the dragon and bring it back to the ship.
Raven takes the Sea Dragon into his arms. “I was right, it is a baby. Oh, it looks like it has been caught in last nights storm and was smashed against the rocks.”
The other elves sees the dragon has a deep cut to the top of their right eye and one its side is looking like it could be infected. They watch the legend check to see if it is still alive by placing his ear to the creature’s chest and they notice his lips form into a soft smile.
“It is alive,” he informs them, “right, I will take it to the Healers, are you all going to be all right getting back to dock?”
Kearic nods. “Yes, we will be fine, Raven, you help the little thing.”
The legend waves his left hand which makes the giant floating hand vanish before he also disappears.
✶✶✶
The Head Healer, Lady Méiguī (Rose) is just settling down for the night when a loud bag comes from downstair and one of her ladies is calling, “Raven, bring it in here.” This makes her quickly go and see what is going on. The legend is standing inside a side room and three of the night staff are around something that is upon a bed.
Lady Méiguī enquires, “Raven, what is going on?” When the hero informs her what he has rescued she also goes to check on the baby dragon. “Apart from a mild concussion and a few cracked ribs, he is reasonably all right.”
“Oh, it is a boy,” expresses Raven with a chuckle. “Hard to tell until they get horns.”
The Head Healer nods in agreement and suggests, “We need to get some water into him and some fresh fish.”
“Ah, I will fetch some fresh Cooper,” responds the legend and vanishes to reappear a moment later holding a basket of small reddish orange fish. “Baby Sea Dragons love these.” He goes on to hold one in front of the little dragon’s nose. “It is nice and fresh,” he says.
The other Healers help by opening the creature’s mouth, even at this size they have razor sharp teeth so Raven has to be careful placing the fish indie. Once it touches the dragon’s tongue he tries to close his jaw only to realise someone is holding the fish and keeps his mouth open.
“Good boy,” says the legend, “there now you can chew, lad.”
The Sea Dragon manages to eat the small fish, goes on to open his mouth for another one and waits for the same rough, soft man’s voice to tell him to eat. He also likes the way the man is stroking him and he slowly opens his eyes to find himself in a dull lit room and the man in front of him is hard to make out, all he can see of him is a partly glowing purple left eye.
“Hey there, little man, I am Raven, do you have a name, lad?”
The little dragon searches his mind, but he is unable to recall his name and replies, “I don’t know.”
Raven gives him a stroke, “It is all right, for now let’s call you Xiāo (Sky), how does that sound?”
“I like it, thank you, Raven.”
“You’re, welcome, my boy,” answers the legend patting him gently on the back. “Now you get some rest and I will be back later to check on you. All right?”
The Sea Dragon reaches out a paw to take hold of his arm and begs, “Don’t leave me.”
Raven gives the creature’s chin a good scratch and tells him, “I need to alert the other Sea Dragons of you, as I would like to reunite you with your family. I won’t be long.”
Xiāo can feel he has nothing to worry about for it is clear the man will keep his word and he snuggles back down and closes his eyes.
The legend returns to the docks and makes his way down to the end of the shore where he goes on to unleash a flair to get the Sea Dragon’s attention. It is not long before he is hearing his good friend Wēi míng's silvery voice, “Raven, darling, what is the matter?” The hero goes on to inform him about the baby and his friend explains, “I am afraid the parent would not even try and retrieve him from such a dangerous spot. I am also afraid to say the family would have abandoned him.”
Hearing this Raven knows there is no use trying to even find the family to tell them the child is alive as they would have moved on and could be half way around the world by now, for Sea Dragons can move incredibly fast through the water. “In that case, I will make him my son, that’s if I am allowed.”
Wēi míng’s right eye widens and he responds, “I don’t see why not, giving who you are. I was going to say, as long as you are fine giving him fish?”
“Yep, for I am used to getting them for my lover.”
“Ah, fair point, my good man. Also you two looking after him, I am sure he will make a full recovery.”
Raven nods and smiles, “He is going to be fine. Anyway, it is late so I will let you get off to bed.”
“It’s quite all right, for you know I am always happy to help you. Night, my sweet Dark Elf,” answers Wēi míng before he swims away.
The legend returns to the Healers who inform him the little dragon is recovering well and he has had another fish. He just takes a seat in the chair and in the morning word soon gets to his lover and it is not long before he arrives at the infirmary.
Raven meets him at the door and softly says, “Dusk, good morning, my sweet, come and meet our new son.”
Dusk is a handsome wingless Vern who has fiery red skin that glistens like rose gold in the sunlight, collar length, jet black hair that has a metallic blue shine to it. He always dresses in a purple coat, that has copper shoulder guards and black trousers, his boots are also covered in copper. His long tail pokes out from the split in the back of his coat, wraps itself around Raven’s waist pulling him close and he states, “You kept that quite, darling, I wasn’t even aware you were with child.”
Raven strokes his abdomen and remarks, “Oh, I was able to conceal it very well.”
“Yeah, you did and you soon got your lovely figure back,” says Dusk giving him a kiss. “Let’s see our baby.”
The legend leads him into the room and when his lover sees the dragon lying on the bed he speaks in a soft voice, “He is adorable.” He pulls his lover close and whispers, “Yes, I am happy to have him as our son. Were you worried I might say no?”
“No, not one bit as I knew the moment you saw him you would fall in love with him as you adore dragons.”
“I sure do, they are such graceful creatures.”
“Graceful?” questions one of the Healers. “You should be thankful he isn’t a Fire Dragon.”
“Piff, they are just miss understood,” remarks Dusk knowing full well how aggressive Fire Dragons can be.
The lady narrows her eyes at him and giggles as she walks out of the room.
“Raven, my darling, you get going to bed, I will look after him.”
The hero starts to yawn and nods, then gives his lover one last kiss before he vanishes.

For over the next few days they take it in turns to take care of the little Sea Dragon who is soon well enough to return to the water. However, he sticks close to the shoreline and takes one of the caves as his home. Wēi míng also becomes his mentor and shows him from the best fishing spots, to transforming into a human, well kind of, they still have their long horns, scaly skin and their deep ocean blue eyes. He finds it to be great fun to go around on two legs, which is tricky at first, but he soon gets to grips with it. Raven and Dusk always make sure he has everything he needs for his cave, some nice shells and plenty of soft white sand to bed down on. Soon the years turn into centuries and Xiāo becomes a full grown Sea Dragon and gets his long white whiskers, that he likes to stroke when he is thinking.
One evening a terrible storm hits off the coat of Longthorn catching a cargo ship by surprise and the crew on board are struggling to keep her from crashing on Black Cove Cliffs, when suddenly the sea around them goes still and a large scaly hand takes hold of one side of the hull.
