She looked up, her gaze briefly landing on the tie before she sighed and stood. “Mamma ne aapko kahin jaane se mana kiya hai,” she said softly.
(Mom has told you not to go anywhere.)
“I’m not going anywhere. It’s just an online meeting,” he clarified.
Without another word, she took the tie and stepped closer. Rising slightly on her toes, she draped it around his neck. Her brows furrowed in concentration as she worked, and Omar found himself captivated by her. Unable to resist, he brushed his fingers lightly over her forehead, smoothing out the frown lines.
Startled, her eyes snapped to his. Their gazes locked, and for a moment, the world around them seemed to fade. His hand lingered, and he almost reached to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. But Aisha stepped back, showing him the tie. “It’s done,” she said curtly, retreating to the couch with her phone.
