“Damn it, why are you girls so clumsy!”
The gate guard bent down to help Nina gather the scattered belongings she had dropped.
They seized the moment to disable several security cameras watching them, using a launcher.
Not long after, Orlan quietly approached them and struck the guard on the head, knocking him unconscious.
“Impressive! Turns out you’re quite skilled at acting,” Orlan praised.
Dinan quickly tampered with the thick gate lock with his expertise before the other guards could notice, since several of their cameras had already been disabled.
A loud clank echoed as the padlock opened, and slowly Zack pushed open the heavy gate.
Zack, a master in espionage, scanned the courtyard of the house, looking for any other surveillance cameras.
“One, two...” he counted softly, then pointed out their locations to Orlan, who was assembling his silenced long rifle.
Carefully, Orlan shot down each of the cameras one by one until they were all destroyed without making a sound. Then, he gave his comrades a thumbs-up.
Lisa’s group quickly ran across the vast courtyard of the official’s mansion, the three of them moving freely, twisting and weaving like cats in the garden.
Orlan’s team followed behind but moved to another side of the large house.
Inside the monitoring room, the guards began to notice something strange.
“What’s going on? Why are the screens only showing black?” one guard asked with a tense face.
“Damn it! Our cameras have been sabotaged! There are intruders!” another guard realized the crisis and immediately ran off to alert his comrades.
Meanwhile outside, Lisa’s group managed to approach the mansion. They pressed themselves against the wall, hiding from the sight of the guards who were now scrambling all over the place.
At the back door, Orlan’s team was already standing by, ready to face the guards and secure the way out for Lisa’s group.
“Lilis, your turn,” Lisa whispered.
Lilis took a device from her backpack. It was an advanced electronic lock opener, developed by the agency itself.
She pressed it against the door, and the device went to work.
Within seconds, the door opened with a soft click.
They slipped into the house carefully through the dimly lit corridor.
They reached the target official’s study, its door unlocked. Inside, they found a massive safe.
“Nina, it’s your turn now,” Lisa whispered.
Nina stepped forward, pulling safe-cracking tools from her backpack. She worked quickly and skillfully, her fingers dancing over the safe’s lock like a performer on stage.
Seconds stretched endlessly as they waited for the device to do its work. Cold sweat beaded on their foreheads.
At last, after a tense wait, the safe clicked open.
They gathered the documents and files inside—evidence proving the official’s crimes.
As they left the room, faintly, they heard the voice of a girl crying out from behind a closed door nearby.
“Should we check it?” Lisa asked, narrowing her eyes suspiciously.
In the end, they slowly approached the door, and the girl’s voice grew clearer.
“No! Please stop, old man! If you do this, you’ll ruin my future!” the girl screamed from inside.
Without warning, Lisa kicked the door open hard, and it burst wide.
There before them was a girl their age, naked, struggling against a fat naked man looming over her.
The girl wept as her eyes met theirs. “Help me,” she pleaded.
Rage surged through Lisa. She stormed forward, pulling something from her backpack.
Bzzt!
Bzzt!
Lisa pulled out a stun gun and aimed it at the man.
He scrambled up from the girl beneath him. “Stay back, you brat! Do you know who I am, you lowborn?!”
“You’re nothing but trash—and soon you’ll vanish from this world,” Lisa replied coldly, closing in with her stun gun aimed.
“Stay back! Argh!”
Lisa’s stun gun jolted the official, sending him crashing from the bed. But Lisa didn’t stop. She kept shocking him until his body went limp.
“Captain,” Lilis called. “Stop, our mission this time is only to retrieve the documents as evidence.”
Lisa ignored her, while Nina comforted the terrified girl. If they hadn’t arrived in time, the girl would have suffered a trauma she could never forget.
“Lil—Amaryllis, could you give this girl one of our spare outfits?” Nina asked.
“Understood, Nemophila.” Lilis pulled an extra disguise outfit from her backpack and handed it to the girl.
“Wear this for now,” Nina said gently, helping her down from the bed and dress.
At that moment, from Lisa’s direction came the sound—
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Startled, Lilis reflexively ran to Lisa and grabbed her hand, stopping her from firing again.
“Captain, stop!”
Click!
Click!
Click!
Lisa’s gun was empty.
“C-captain... this is beyond our mission,” Lilis said, trembling, as the official lay sprawled on the floor in a pool of blood.
The rescued girl clung tightly to Nina, terrified by the bloody scene before her. The official’s blood trickled until it touched her feet.
“Come on, Captain, let go of the gun... you look so tense.”
Slowly but surely, Lisa loosened her grip, and the pistol shifted into Lilis’s hand.
“Sorry... I just remembered what happened to my twin sister, who was raped right in front of me by a man, and the next morning I found her hanging.”
A year ago, before Lisa joined the agency, a bitter memory carved itself into her soul. She had witnessed with her own eyes as her twin, Lisara, was raped when Lisa had just returned from shopping at a nearby minimarket.
She had tried to save her, but the man’s strength was overwhelming. Lisa was thrown, her head striking the wall, and she lost consciousness.
When Lisa awoke the next morning, she was greeted by a sight that scarred her forever. Hanging from the ceiling was Lisara, her neck tied by a rope.
From then on, Lisa bore hatred toward that man and trauma whenever she saw a girl being abused.
That was the reason she accepted the agency’s recruitment, determined to one day find the man who stole Lisara from her.
“Hey, I heard gunshots from the Master’s room! Let’s check it out!”
Suddenly, chaos erupted outside, the sound of running footsteps heading toward them.
Lilis tried contacting Orlan through her earpiece.
“Senior, we—” her voice was cut off.
“What happened?” Orlan asked, trying to reach her through the comms.
“We need to move now, Captain!” Zack shouted. “The guards are coming armed to the teeth. From what I heard, they know the shots came from their master’s room.”
“Argh! Damn it! Why did they have to mess it up?!”
Lisa’s group rushed to the back door, where Orlan’s team was securing their escape. But as they reached it, two guards blocked their path.
“There’s no way out,” Lilis whispered in panic.
Before the guards could act, a masked man burst in from the window and swiftly knocked them both unconscious.
The masked man turned to the four of them. “Follow me if you want to live.”
