Some stories are too personal to be told with words alone. For Bangladeshi photographer Oviul Maruf, the best way to tell his latest story was through his camera. Through Tahmid’s Eyes marks Maruf’s first venture into portrait photography—a heartfelt project starring his 9-year-old brother, Ahnaf Noor Tahmid.

Before stepping into portraiture, Maruf had already made his mark in nature photography with projects like River View, a breathtaking visual journey that showcased his ability to capture serenity, light, and the quiet poetry of landscapes. Known for his work in nature and abstract photography, he built a reputation for finding beauty in unexpected places—whether in the reflection of a river at dawn or the textures of the natural world.

With Through Tahmid’s Eyes, Maruf takes that same sensitivity and artistic precision into the realm of portraiture. This new project is more than just a debut; it’s a visual diary of a boy’s world, told through the bond between two brothers. Each frame is alive with Ahnaf’s energy—from the spark of curiosity in his eyes to the peaceful stillness of quieter moments.

The photographs feel both spontaneous and intentional, balancing the raw authenticity of candid moments with the deliberate artistry that defines Maruf’s style. Just as he once froze the stillness of rivers and the dance of sunlight across landscapes, here he captures the fleeting, precious moments of childhood—moments that slip away far too quickly.

Through Tahmid’s Eyes isn’t simply a portrait album. It is a celebration of family, love, and the magic of growing up, seen through the eyes of a child and the lens of a brother. With this work, Oviul Maruf proves that his art is as much about emotion as it is about technique, carrying his storytelling from the natural world into the intimate realm of human connection.
