Daylight retired early today leaving us with the night and its creations. Lotus walked around in a circle for a moment trying to find the best comfort spot, Shelia's tail pushed her friend down into the ground. I let out a chuckle of sorts watching them as I sharpen my blade.
Crackling of firewood and the sounds of nature become pleasant and in that it was symphony own.
A reminder of extend life. How these creature's worries are non- existent.
Kylian walks over carrying more firewood and tossed it into the fire some were being used as a stick to push the burn wood around. The world was quiet yet not quiet at the same time. You could hear it breathing. My friend sits down and clamps his hands together over his knees and made clear "I'll take the first shift and if I need rest. I will let you know" he stared at the fire. I rested against my griffon petting her gently after a while I left her alone to sleep. Her fur resembles clouds. You would think there is a relation. My head titled ever so slightly on Lotus as my eyes convert to Kylian before reflecting on an old memory "remember that one night we were out here. Fishing in the middle of the night in the lake".
I leaned back some more letting my body embed itself into her fur. We exchanged glances, him, and I before one of us broke it. Kylian replied to my question before leaning on his griffon staring up at the sky, "yeah, that was my first time catching a fish with my hand. The fish in the pond would glow different colors based of the weather because they could sense it. Iyana screamed when we tossed a fish at her as a joke" he reminded me. All I could picture was us running around in the lake playing with the fishes as Iyana stood on land watching us.
Good times
"In belief, we're catching a bigger fish... What are you thinking?" he asked completely puzzled. I turned my body to face him more "Honestly, I'm not sure. I know I have duties, but I didn't expect them to come this fast... Wait... You knew that I was getting engaged and did not warn me. You thought you were slick. You could have told me. "A glimpse of disappointment was displayed on my face.
"I'm sorry about that If I had told you, would you have even gone to the ball?" he asked softly in a way to derail the topic but not ignore it.
Would I?
"Hmm... I still would go. To be frank, I would be upset but not really show it in front of my father. He's trying his hardest which I do acknowledge. When I am ready for love, I'll let it happen. Right now, is not the time to be saying wedding vowels when I can easily lose it in a second. The main priority is ensuring my kingdom's safety. Plus, I got you, no one can compete with that...Night, Kylian" I smiled looking at him before turning around.
"...Noted... Good night, Sly" he replied faintly as my eyes closed.
Morning made itself known to its audience. Three days have passed since I have seen my family. I hopped off my griffon pulling down my dark green hood and took a quick look at small map in my hands. Lines of light projected the images and where we were on the map.
"Is this it?" he questioned staring at the small book shop called 'Burial'. On the map, the x is placed on the book shop that is right in front of them. I have never been to the Elven Patriarchy; there’s a small number of things that I do not know of this world.
"Yep, doesn't look like much" My right hand pushed the door open leaving enough room for Kylian to follow me in. A Tillian, a reptile creature noticed us entering the store and put down a book that from afar what seems to be a sketch book.
When expected closer, her attire was hanging from her shoulder in a darkish red and stopped at her hip while the rest of the material was wrapped around her leg individually in a tan shade.
Silver jewelry laid around her neck and head.
"How can I help you?" the Tillian asked getting closer to the counter. For a bookstore, it's quite dusty. I approached the counter running my finger along the wood grained top. I examined our surroundings with a reply "I am looking for the Elven Patriarchy" with those words everything changed in a second. Goblins appeared out of couple of the books pointing their knives at us and the Tillian at the counter pushed a blade against my neck only to be met with mine.
Our eyes locked, the unknown tensity was there. Was there confusion? Absolutely.
An older Tillian with longer fins walks out the back room with a pipe and commands "Let them in. We do not want our guesses waiting. Remove your blades. Shera, now".
The Tillian moved her blade away from my neck as so did I. She raised her hand to the wall were a glowing circle appeared with symbols and pressed her hand against it. Her white claws could be seen clearly in their sharp state. An opening between two staircases slides open showing a pathway, the older Tillian walks down the stairs followed by a ball of light "Well come on, we are running out of time here. Let's not dilly dally!" as they took a puff from their pipe.
We wondered down a darken hallway, at the end of it was a vibrating light.
"Welcome to the Elven Patriarchy, Princess "the older Tillian said as the environment under the cool light shown its advantage of other Tillian's. Many of them were sorting books, checking a larger map that was forecasted in the middle of the room. The perimeter displayed arcades that led to other aspects of this place from what I could see.
It's beautiful.
My lips formed into a smile admiring the anatomy of it all. Kylian stayed behind me observing his surrounds. I glanced at him which made him shrug.
"What do you guys even do here?" I asked out of curiosity staying behind the older Tillian.
A few Tillian's were in their groups whispering.
"We study all kind of medicines with a help of the willow tree. Studying practices for ages. Our books hold many secrets... They can tell you all about it" she trailed off as a pair of stone walls opened. Cloaked figures stood on the top of the stairs; their faces were barely visible. As proper etiquette and a sign of respect, I gave them a small bow "I am – "one of the cloaked figures cut me off with "we know. We've been expecting you" they said waving their hand. A picture of five gems came into view: Amethyst, Emerald, Opal, Sapphire, and lastly the Citrine gemstone.
"How do I stop Maverick?" I asked watching the gems float around the room only for them to disappear into another image.
"Maverick is a concern but is not your biggest issue. For decades, kingdoms: four kingdoms have been eliminated by the Oasis. A being that holds great power but is craving more.
Left with only a few survivors. It takes over one's body and becomes part of them. It wants to restore its energy. It is looking for five gems, each with a different ability. Each gem was hidden away. Once it has all five gems, it will become unstoppable. For it to be a host, the vessel must accept. You need to find all five gems and stop the Oasis" the cloaked figure on the far left stated. A Tillian hands me a scroll. I looked up at them then the scroll looking over it.
"Maverick took our Bishop, why?" I questioned stepping forward. My mind could only image the worse and how scared the bishop could be right now.
"It is said that a holy relic, a sword forge in the moon's blood can kill Oasis. Years ago, a warrior forged the blade with each gem but at that time Oasis was too power for them. He damaged Oasis's before it disappeared; Oasis broken the sword. The pieces not found. To make Oasis whole again, the words of a holy man must be said with the gems. The warrior hid the gems in five locations. All are on that scroll in your hands" the cloak figure announced. The cloaked figure in the middle steps down and faces me.
"HI” she speaks energetically removing her hood.
