Kylian
Two Eirenains walk over to the entrance of the village. I finished chopping the logs and place over my shoulder. A thud sound of the draw bridge could be heard in the distance.
She's here...
I toss the axe to the side as I make my way over to the bridge. A smile spread across my face once Sloane was in sight but soon disappears once Maverick intrudes my view from behind. He's not dead. I wrap my arms around the princess hugging her tightly. Her arms wrap around my torse, well as much as she could with the fur coats that the Eirenians supplied me. All is good.
"It's been too long" I state smiling while slowly letting go of her. In the corner of my eye, Maverick takes down his hood watching us. Sloane places her hand on my arm patting it then said, "It's only been two days."
"Three days too long. I tried looking for you" Kylian looks over at shadow harvester.
Maverick tilts his head squinting his eyes, he asks "Desperate much? Let the woman breathe. Theres a chance she wanted a vacation away from you, her little puppy." I fiercely walk over to him with both of my fists clinched, "It's my job to protect her and at least I am not Oasis's puppet. You would be begging for attention even if she told you to roll over and play dead."
"Doesn't seem like you are...she's always with me somehow. Basically, you are terrible at your job. A hand place in front of my face with its backside facing me while the palm to Maverick. The owner looks between us shaking her head "Enough. Both of you are acting like children and they are laughing at you. Squash it and deal with this later. Just not right now."
Sloane leaves us as the entrance closes. I rest my arm behind her neck leading her to somewhere warm and out of the cold. To get away from him. I take her to one of the empty pods inside less crowded section of the mountain. Imagine their home as pods or sectors in a beehive. Congested with reasonable distance from each other. Throughout the village, there are lanterns scatter around hanging from trees. Snow laid among the huts. To keep the village warm in the nights, a few bonfires were place around area with a view guards on watch.
A maze I tell you. I've forgotten where I slept a few times. Sloane pushes back the curtain showing the various of fabrics and furs. A decent side pile fur bedding, stuff with other materials pushed up against the wall with a rug under it. Various kinds of wool and fur hung from what you could call the ceiling. She stops after admiring the room hanging her damp cloak on a stone hook on the wall.
"I saw Vera but not The Crow. Normally, they are joint by the hip" She explains facing me. Don't cross your arms and make that face. How do I tell her? She sprints her eyes stepping closer. I adjust the fur on my neck watching her ears twitch before answering her form of a question or integration "We lost her. After the wall appeared. She went out somewhere and never came back. We did try to find her, but you know how she is. But I am having the Eirenians on the lookout. In case something pops up."
I sat down on the floor by her bed grabbing her hand. What's bothering her? My hand caresses hers as I stared up at her.
"...Have you've been sleeping?" I ask out of concern searching for her eyes that finally met with mine.
Yet inside, they hide a lot more that I cannot perceive. She plays with my hand then explains "Kinda, but I have been at somewhat of an ease".
Blaire, one of the guards opens the curtain stopping in her tracks. The fur on her pointy ears is noticeable. She smiles awkwardly showing her fangs "Sorry to disturb but I found something that you should look at" she announces stepping out of the room waiting for me.
Over the past couple days there has been incidents of Eirenians missing out in the fields. By me being a royal guard, I have some specialties in these cases. I stood up letting go of Sloane's hand, "I'll be back later to check on you. We can catch up then" I left closing the curtain.
Blaire leads me outside of the village to an open path. On the side of it was a large footprint of some creature and a crow feather. I pick it up examining its detail before passing it over to Blaire.
"This might be hers. I'll have Vera investigate it further to see if it belongs to The Crow" I glance around our surroundings. Blaire stood next to me placing both hands on her hips and inhales deeply staring out of the horizon.
"How did you bag the princess?" she asks looking at me.
"Really Blaire?"
"I’m just asking!" she raise her hand defensibly and turns to face me. "You saw the way she was defending him. It would suck if you got hurt and you seem like amazing human guy" she claims.
As if she knows us, what we've been through.
You and me then she wouldn't say that.
Right?
