Competition Breakdown
Valken walked up to the hologram, swiping through each event with deliberate pauses.
1. Blackout Hunt – Stealth infiltration in total darkness.
Teams navigate an urban maze with no light sources.
Night vision banned. You rely on sound, memory, and instinct.
Objective: Tag the “target” without being detected.
2. Contraband Run – Smuggling challenge.
Move illicit goods across a guarded map without interception.
No killing — if you’re caught, you’re out.
Bonus points for creativity and speed.
3. The Last Heist – Vault break-in simulation.
Break into a heavily guarded mock vault and escape with the prize.
Points for stealth, teamwork, and not triggering alarms.
4. Blood Oath Duel – Combat arena.
1v1 or 2v2 matches. Melee only, no firearms.
Fights are until incapacitation or concession.
5. Kingpin’s Gambit – Live strategy game.
Oversized board with real people as “pieces.”
You capture territories, control supply lines, and outmaneuver opponents.
6. Hit List – Assassination challenge.
Take down three hidden NPC targets among civilians.
Extra points for doing it without crowd panic.
7. Iron Convoy – Escort and ambush swap.
First half, you guard a moving convoy; second half, you attack another team’s convoy.
Points based on survival rate and destruction efficiency.
8. Smokes & Daggers – Deception game.
Infiltrate a guarded mansion. Some guards are double agents.
Objective: steal the documents without killing the wrong targets.
9. Syndicate Siege – Final battle.
All leagues in a massive “turf war.”
Points from previous rounds give advantages.
Valken turned back to the Shades. “This is your battlefield. And I’m here to make sure you don’t embarrass me… or Umbra.”
Q&A Chaos
Phoenix raised his hand lazily. “Question. Why aren’t the Glooms and Tier 2 Shades in this?”
Valken smirked. “Different competitions. Glooms have the Order of Leagues. Tier 2 Shades have the Circle of Leagues.”
Griffin leaned over to Basilisk (Vance). “Order of Leagues sounds like a tea club.”
Basilisk snorted. “Yeah, but can they win?”
Valken answered without missing a beat. “Of course. But Inter-League Tier 1 is the main prize. It holds the most points, the most prestige. That’s why Damien barked at you.”
Hydra tilted his head. “And the Circle of Leagues?”
“One-on-one solo competition. Only one Tier 2 Shade here, so it’s not your concern. You’ll know next year.”
Training Mayhem
Valken clapped his hands. “Alright, warm-up starts now. Field. Ten minutes.”

The gym went completely dark. A shrill buzzer sounded.
Griffin whispered, “Hydra, I can’t see—” WHAM! He walked straight into Leviathan, who grunted and shoved him aside.
Phoenix was laughing so hard he tripped over a mat. Wyvern silently tagged two “guards” and vanished into the darkness like a ghost. Cerberus was taking down targets with surgical precision while muttering about amateurs.

Nymph (Saira) was “smuggling” a crate disguised as a flower box. Sphinx, playing guard, stopped her.

He peeked inside. “…Grenades aren’t flowers.”

Hydra vs. Leviathan. The rest sat in the stands, cheering like it was a street fight.

Amber sighed from the corner, already predicting injuries.

Phoenix was supposed to be “guarding supply lines.” Instead, he bribed Sphinx to “look the other way” and stole Caelthorn’s fake supply cache.168Please respect copyright.PENANAC9mTg2E7e5
Griffin kept laughing until Valken caught him and made him run laps.
By the end of the day, the Shades were sprawled across the grass, panting. Valken stood over them with a satisfied smirk.
“Day one, and you already fight like a dysfunctional family. Perfect. That’s exactly what Umbra needs.”
Phoenix muttered, “We’re doomed.”
Hydra grinned. “Nah. We’re just… uniquely qualified.”
