Girls’ Bath — Calm Waters
The women’s side of the hot spring was serene, steam rising in lazy spirals. Valkyrie leaned back against the stone edge, letting the heat seep into sore muscles.
“This,” she sighed, “might be the best part of missions.”
Cerberus floated lazily near Nymph, eyes closed. “Hot water, no gunfire. I could live here.”
Nymph smiled faintly. “Don’t get too comfortable. Azure will have us running drills tomorrow.”
Kraken’s voice carried faintly through the dividing wall, followed by Phoenix’s cackling.
Chimera smirked. “Sounds like the boys are already causing trouble.”
Boys’ Bath — Chaos Erupts
The men’s side was anything but peaceful. The moment they’d settled into the steaming pool, Griffin and Phoenix started splashing each other.
“Stop aiming for my face!” Griffin shouted.
Phoenix grinned wickedly. “Oh, I thought we were doing target practice!”
Basilisk tried to stay out of it, leaning back with eyes closed. That lasted until a stray splash soaked his hair. His eyes snapped open.164Please respect copyright.PENANAARpWejg1jA
“…You just made the list.”
Leviathan, sitting still in the corner like a stone gargoyle, muttered, “Idiots.”
Wyvern, lounging on the edge, raised a brow. “What list?”
Basilisk smirked darkly. “The list of people I’m going to drown.”
Hydra had been quiet until then, simply watching the spectacle. But when Phoenix tried to tackle Griffin into the water, and Kraken joined in, he sighed and rose.
“Cut it out before someone cracks their skull.”
They didn’t listen.
Azure Steps Away
Azure, toweling his hair, glanced at the chaos. “I’m getting a call. Don’t burn the place down in the next two minutes.”
The moment he was gone, the line between Shades dissolved into open rivalry.
Pegasus smirked at Wyvern. “Bet you can’t take Basilisk.”
Wyvern cracked his neck. “Bet I can.”
Hydra muttered, “This is a terrible idea.”
Seconds later, water was flying, someone yelled about their towel being stolen, and Leviathan — somehow — was in the middle of it all despite swearing he wouldn’t participate.
Back on the Girls’ Side
Valkyrie tilted her head toward the muffled shouts from next door. “Think we should check on them?”
Cerberus didn’t even open her eyes. “Nope.”
Nymph smiled. “If they drown each other, that’s fewer people to fight over rations.”
They all laughed, letting the steam carry away the aches of battle.
Azure Returns
When Azure came back, the men’s bath looked like the aftermath of a small war — water sloshed over the edges, towels were scattered, and Basilisk was chasing Phoenix around the edge.
Azure just stared. “Two minutes. I was gone for two minutes.”
Hydra crossed his arms. “You left children unsupervised.”
Phoenix pointed at Griffin. “He started it!”
Griffin spluttered, “Lies! You started it when—”
Azure raised a hand. “Enough. Dry off. Food in twenty.”
Evening in Umbra
By the time the baths were over, both groups had returned to the main lounge. The mission fatigue had faded into a strange mix of relaxation and wariness — the Silent Eagle was secure, but the SFD file still lingered in the shadows of everyone’s mind.
Hydra caught Isolde’s gaze briefly across the room. She looked away first.
Whatever lines connected them were still hidden… for now.
