Blood dries. Grudges don’t.
Miguel’s Hospital Room – 6:07 AM
The beeping was steady. Machines hummed. The morning sun pushed through thin blinds.
And then—
A twitch.
Miguel’s fingers moved.
Slow. Subtle. But unmistakable.
The nurse glanced up from her clipboard. "Miguel?" she whispered, almost afraid to believe it.
His eyelids fluttered.
Then opened.
Dark brown eyes, hazy, unfocused. Breathing shallow but steady.
“M-Mom…?” he croaked.
And just like that, the silence shattered.
Cobra Kai Dojo – Later That Morning
Andrea burst through the doors, panting, still in her hoodie from running to the dojo.
“He’s awake.”
Johnny froze mid-punch. He was training Robby — or more accurately, drilling him into exhaustion. Robby’s face was red, sweat dripping down his chin.
Hawk looked up from across the mat. “Say that again?”
“Miguel. He woke up. He asked for his mom.”
Johnny took a breath, shoulders tight.
“I need to go,” he said, wiping his hands.
Robby stepped forward. “What about training?”
Johnny didn’t even turn. “This matters more.”
As the door slammed behind him, the rest of the dojo stood frozen.
Andrea’s heart raced.
He was alive.
But what now?
Hospital – Room 412
Johnny stood beside Carmen, both of them watching Miguel’s eyes adjust to the room. His voice was weak, but his grip on Johnny’s wrist was strong.
“You were there?” Miguel asked softly.
“Not at the fall,” Johnny said. “But I’m here now.”
Miguel nodded slowly. “Was it Robby?”
Johnny hesitated.
Then, with a heavy sigh: “Yeah.”
Miyagi-Do Dojo
Tory walked past the front gate like she owned the place.
Sam was already waiting.
They didn’t speak at first. Just circled each other.
Then Tory broke the silence. “You still protecting that bitch Kate?”
Sam’s eyes flared. “She’s not a bitch. You’re just pissed someone finally hit back.”
Tory’s lip curled. “Andrea should’ve broken her nose when she had the chance.”
“She’s not like you.”
Tory stepped in close. “No. She’s worse. Because she’s learning to be like me.”
Sam didn’t move.
But something in her cracked.
Outside the School – Lunchtime
Andrea leaned against a wall, earbuds in. She hadn’t slept. She hadn’t eaten.
She just kept replaying Miguel’s fall.
Kate walked by. Alone. Quiet.
For once, no insults. No smirks.
Andrea pulled her earbuds out. “Come back for round two?”
Kate paused.
Turned.
“You think you scare me?” Kate asked.
Andrea’s jaw tightened. “I think I should.”
Kate’s eyes narrowed. “He fell because of your dojo. Don’t pretend you’re the victim.”
“I’m not the victim,” Andrea said. “I’m the reason you’re still breathing.”
Kate took a step forward. “Touch me and you’re expelled.”
Andrea didn’t flinch. “I don’t need to touch you to make you bleed.”
That’s when Tory showed up.
“Oh hell no,” she growled. “You don’t get to talk to her like that.”
Kate crossed her arms. “Aww, look, the Cobra Kai dogs bark in packs now.”
Tory was already stepping forward, fists clenched.
Andrea pulled her back by the elbow. “Not now. Not here.”
Kate smirked. “That’s what I thought.”
Then walked off.
That Night – Cobra Kai Parking Lot
Andrea sat on the curb. Hawk sat beside her, arms resting on his knees.
“You’re quiet,” he said.
“I hate her.”
He chuckled darkly. “Welcome to the club.”
“No,” she said. “It’s different now. It’s not schoolyard hate. It’s... bone-deep.”
He looked at her, expression unreadable. “That feeling doesn’t go away.”
Andrea turned toward him. “Does it get easier?”
He took a breath. “No. You just get stronger.”
A silence passed.
Then she asked, “Do you think we’re still the good guys?”
Hawk didn’t answer.
Because he didn’t know anymore.
Miyagi-Do – Inside the House
Daniel looked through old tournament photos — him and Mr. Miyagi. Peace. Purpose.
Amanda leaned in the doorway. “You miss him.”
“Every day.”
“Then what would he do right now?”
Daniel closed the album. “He’d say violence creates more violence.”
“And yet here we are.”
Daniel turned. “We need to stop this before it becomes war.”
Amanda nodded. “Then maybe it’s time you stopped training your students like they’re saints.”
Cobra Kai – The Pact
Late night. The dojo was lit by a single bulb. Everyone was there — Hawk, Andrea, Tory, Kyler, Kenny, Mitch, Bert.
Johnny stepped in, arms crossed.
“We’re stronger than ever,” he said. “But now it’s personal.”
Everyone listened.
“Robby’s with us. Miguel’s alive. But this isn’t about tournaments anymore. This is about loyalty. And I only want warriors. If any of you are thinking of quitting—walk out now.”
No one moved.
“Good,” Johnny said. “Then from this day forward, we don’t fight as individuals.”
He stepped aside.
“You fight as a pack.”
Andrea met Hawk’s eyes.
Something cold and electric passed between them.
