"Hhh, I asked you to keep your distance," Fulvia rolled her eyes and rubbed her temple.
"I did," the guy returned.
"For more than five minutes," Fulvia said. "Why are you always like this when we meet a new face.
"And leave you alone with some pneumarian's lapdog?" the giant insisted protectively.
Fulvia sighed in defeat.
"This is my overzealous First Titan General, Cinder. One of six Generals in my army," Fulvia introduced him to Tymon.
Based on the heat emanating from the guy, Tymon guessed he had a fire or magma cintracy.
"Tymon," Tymon introduced himself to Cinder as the giant eyed him cautiously. This guy clearly carried a chip on his shoulder about pneumarians.
"From what I understand, the pneumarians want peace with you all," Tymon commented aloud, catching the two off guard.
Cinder scoffed.
"Pneumarians claim they only want peace, but, in reality, it's only so long as we klevonians agree to become subservient to them," he said bitterly. "I acknowledge that over time, the pneumarian ideology has changed. They're less aggressive than before, but their core remains the same. The pneumarians trick themselves into believing the present-day relationship between pneumarians and klevonians 'blessed' with ascension marks is one of mutualism. We know the truth. It's really an ultimate predation where slavery is hidden behind convenient incentives instead of using force. Unless they're like us Generals," he motioned to himself, "klevonians aren't immortal. They will eventually die. Pneumarians capitalize on their deaths, increasing their numbers. As far as I'm concerned, ascension marks only serve as a method of trimming down klevonian numbers while ensuring the pneumarian population continues to flourish."
"Hm," Tymon contemplated before speaking, "How can you all hate a race you strive to become?"
Cinder clenched his jaw, clearly offended by this.
"Not all of us want nor need to 'ascend'."
That statement caught Tymon's attention, reminding him of the comment Gahiji had made concerning the nature of the Klevonian Army's Generals, but before he could say anything, Fulvia chimed in.
"We don't have a problem with pneumarians as a race," she clarified. "After all, yes, many hope to one day evolve into one. The drive is encoded in our DNA – it's just the pneumarian system we hate. Just because one has the ability to subjugate an entire race doesn't mean they should.
"And while, yes, there are a lot of klevonians willing to subjugate themselves for assurance and power, but those of the Klevonian Army would rather die than receive a pneumarian's mark," Cinder remarked. Tymon didn't look, but he knew Fulvia probably winced at that comment.
"Hopefully, one day, we'll figure out how to acquire power without having to kill each other or sell ourselves to a pneumarian. That's our biggest dream anyway," Fulvia said, putting on a tough facade.
"Anyhow," she clapped, ready to change the subject. "Tymon, how would you like to see more of Forgeton? I don't mind setting up a tour."
"Thanks, but we can do that later," Tymon replied, straightening himself. He noticed she seemed slightly down by his rejection.
"Ahem, I'm still getting used to seeing so many people with different abilities," he commented, trying to be a little conversational. "It's nothing like Earth. Just before arriving here, I ran into a klevonians who seemed to see into my past."
Fulvia and Cinder looked at each other in silent confusion.
"In Forgeton? No one I know of has an ability like that," Fulvia stated. "Although one klevonian does have the ability to see one's future by touching them."
"Then what was it she saw when she touched me?" Tymon wondered, thinking of the older woman whose home he'd accidentally emerged into earlier. "I'll have to stop by and ask her later."
"Good luck. If you're talking about who I think you are, you won't find her again. It was nothing but luck that you found her in the first place. She's a recluse who also has a concealing ability that makes it impossible to sense her. Considering you know where she lives, she probably has already relocated somewhere else."
Tymon looked out the window as his thoughts reenacted the woman's fear and panic of him. What could she have seen?
