When one refers to the Three Crowns, they are often referring to the combined realm known as the Kingdoms of Dannen, Norwezhen, and Sueken, the three powers of the northern Europer region, Skannen. However, it did not always involve all three of these nations. Originally, the term was coined by Cnut Sweynsson, who rose to the throne of Anglen, and later Dannen, after he assassinated his younger brother. He later conquered Norwezhen which earned him hegemony over the North Sea. However, his achievements died with him. It would not be another three hundred years before the concept of three unified kingdoms came into use again. Margrete Valdemarsdatter found herself regent of Dannen, Norwezehn, and Sueken through intricate marriages and conspiracies. She installed her great-nephew, Bogislaw von Greifen, as King of the Three Crowns, and he continued this legacy until the modern age. However, despite having survived centuries of strife and turmoil, there will always come a time when the regime capsizes itself. The isolationist policy adopted by Carl von Glücksburg plunged the kingdoms into a dark age, and following the Second Calamity, he and his family were overthrown. Equal rule was restored, and the Three Crowns became an alliance rather than a single political entity. That was until the three kings started vying for domination again, but none among them succeeded. A commoner did.
