The shattered remnants of the impenetrable Spectral Rune Cages dissolved into harmless sparks of light as Captain Arcturus Valen powered down from his Quantum Strategy Nexus. The dark void of the Eclipse Sovereignty's headquarters remained completely silent, save for the heavy breathing of the newly freed captives.
Captain Alaric Voss rolled his massive shoulders, his defensive aura flaring back to life. "Well done, Arcturus," he commended, a rare smile crossing his stern face.
Elder Moros nodded in profound agreement, shock still evident in his ancient eyes. "To outwit them within their own absolute domain... truly exceptional, Captain Valen."
Nearby, Captain Elowen Virellis was already kneeling beside Kenshiro Takamura, her hands radiating a soothing Lifebloom Aura. The samurai was in a terrible state, his body still covered in deep, temporal wounds from his fight back at the Azure Universe.
"What happened to you, Kenshiro?" Elowen asked softly, her brow furrowed as she worked to stabilize him.
Kenshiro coughed, wincing as the healing magic knit his flesh together. "It was Aiden," he rasped, looking up at the group. "He's changed. He possesses a power that slices through timelines and precognition that sees every outcome of a battle. If King Kael hadn't intervened..." Kenshiro let the sentence trail off, the grim reality settling over them.
Captain Valen stood perfectly straight, his eyes scanning the pitch-black void filled with distant, pinprick stars. "It seems we are trapped in an endless dark plane," the Grandmaster of Strategy observed, his mind rapidly processing variables.
Elder Moros stroked his silver beard. "We cannot just wait here until Vesper Noctis returns. We need to find a way to break out of this dimension entirely."
"I know," Valen replied smoothly. "And we will. We'll create a rift right through it."
He turned his piercing gaze toward the group. "Kiera, Alaric, and you... samurai. We will attack all at the same time to break out. We'll be successful."
Elder Moros stepped forward, his eyes glowing faintly as he activated Fateweaving. "I will manipulate the threads of probability," the Elder declared. "I guarantee this strike will be successful."
Captain Elowen looked up, her hands still glowing over Kenshiro's chest. "Arcturus, he is still in critical condition! Even after I healed him as best as I could, his life force is dangerously low. An attack of that magnitude will kill him."
Captain Valen's expression remained entirely stoic. "Oh well. Get up, let's go."
Kenshiro didn't hesitate. Ignoring Elowen’s protests, the samurai forced himself to his feet, his hand resting heavily on his katana.
Valen quickly outlined the strategy. "Kiera, you will use your Planetbreaker Fang. Kenshiro, you will unleash your Shūen no Chihei Geki. Both of you will aim directly at Alaric. Alaric, you will activate Celestial Reflector. By reflecting the combined force of those two ultimate attacks, the energy will multiply exponentially—enough to tear a hole in this dimensional plane."
Kenshiro gripped Hikari no Kiba, knowing full well that channeling the entirety of his remaining life force into the Final Horizon Strike would mean his death. But he nodded in agreement.
Valen then turned to the stunned healer. "Captain Elowen, be prepared to activate your Special Technique: Flower of the Living God to revive Kenshiro immediately after the attack. It is unfortunate, as you can only use it once, but it is necessary."
Elowen’s eyes widened in utter disbelief. "How... how do you know about that ability? I am the only one who knows of its existence!"
Captain Valen adjusted his cuffs, his brilliant eyes flashing with absolute authority. "With my Grandmaster of the Cosmos, I oversee all variables. Nothing is hidden from me."
With the plan set, the warriors took their positions. Kiera Voss focused her energy, her aura condensing into a singular, devastating point of lethality. Kenshiro drew his blade, his Bushido Aura burning away the last of his life force as the katana became a blinding star.
They struck simultaneously.
Kiera’s Planetbreaker Fang and Kenshiro’s Shūen no Chihei Geki collided violently with Alaric’s Celestial Reflector. The shield absorbed the apocalyptic force, multiplied it with celestial energy, and violently redirected it outward. The resulting explosion was cataclysmic. The endless dark plane screamed as the fabric of the void ripped open, creating a massive, swirling dimensional rift.
The tremendous vacuum sucked the heroes through space and time.
They crashed heavily onto a polished obsidian floor, the grand architecture around them gleaming under dim, atmospheric lighting. True to the plan, Kenshiro fell lifeless, his life force entirely depleted. But Captain Elowen was already moving, slamming her hands onto his chest and unleashing the radiant, life-giving brilliance of her secret technique. With a sharp gasp, Kenshiro’s eyes snapped open, brought back from the brink of death.
As the group staggered to their feet, confusion washed over them. The sheer scale and intricate, dark elegance of the room were completely unfamiliar to most.
But Captain Valen was quick to act. His eyes darted across the room, taking in every ounce of data, mapping the architectural layout, and analyzing the surrounding auras.
"And what do we have here?" a gruff, grinding voice echoed through the massive chamber.
Stepping from the shadows was King Thornoe, his massive brawler’s frame heavily scarred and set in perpetual grimness.
Captain Valen stepped forward, his posture rigid. "Who are you?"
King Thornoe let out a low, rumbling chuckle. "I should be asking you all the same question. Though I don’t normally answer questions from insects." The massive king cracked his neck. "I was tasked to watch over The Council’s Hall while The Judge and the others were out handling business."
The data clicked instantly in Valen’s mind. The Council's Hall. The Judge. They hadn't landed in some random, neutral territory. The dimensional rift had dropped them directly into the absolute heart of the Main District—the stronghold of the 6 Kingdoms.
Valen quickly shifted his demeanor, offering a smooth, polite bow. "My apologies," Valen lied effortlessly. "We are simply travelers who got lost due to a malfunctioning spatial spell. If you would kindly point us to the exit, we will leave."
King Thornoe narrowed his menacing, lime-green eyes, considering the request. "Lost, eh? How do I know you are actually good?"
He stepped closer, almost willing to let them slide, until his eyes locked onto a familiar emblem stitched into the outfits of Captain Valen, Captain Alaric, and Captain Elowen. It was the exact same insignia worn by Captain Daichi.
Thornoe’s scarred face twisted into a mask of pure rage, and he burst into a booming, uproarious laugh. "You really thought you could catch me? Hahahahahahahah!"
Slamming his foot into the obsidian floor, the King roared, "Thornforge Mantle!".
The ground erupted as massive, razor-sharp thorns and thick vines flooded the entire hall. The living armor of thorns filled the room in seconds, sealing the massive doors and trapping the heroes inside a deadly, spiked cage.
"KIERA!" Valen shouted.
Kiera Voss didn't hesitate. She instantly activated her ultimate form, VWCS, her power surging to divine levels. Propelling herself upward with terrifying speed, she unleashed Serpent's Lethal Strike, aiming directly at the vaulted ceiling. The viper-like strike obliterated the stone and steel above them, blasting a massive hole through the roof of The Council's Hall.
Reacting purely on samurai instinct, Kenshiro leaped directly at the towering King Thornoe, his katana glowing with cutting wind. "Fūjin Geki!".
Thornoe grinned wickedly. Channeling his energy, he rapidly molded the thorns wrapping his arm into a massive, jagged blade of hardened wood and spikes—his Thorn Blade. He brought it up, clashing violently against Kenshiro’s katana.
Sparks and splinters flew as Thornoe quickly countered, shooting massive, spear-like vines from the ground to impale the airborne samurai.
"Fukutsu no Ukenagashi!" Kenshiro yelled, utilizing his Unyielding Parry to flawlessly deflect the rushing vines, redirecting their momentum and bouncing safely away from the King's lethal counter.
"Everyone, through the roof!" Captain Valen ordered, gesturing toward the opening Kiera had created.
As the heroes leaped toward the exit, King Thornoe let out a roar of frustration. Reaching into his mantle, he pulled out a glowing, volatile seed and hurled it directly toward the hole in the ceiling.
"Seed of Reclamation: Destruction!" Thornoe bellowed. The seed expanded rapidly mid-air, preparing to detonate into a massive cluster of explosive, piercing shards that would seal the exit and shred them all.
But Captain Valen was already one step ahead. His eyes blazed with brilliant tactical light as he activated Quantum Predictive Counter. Having anticipated the exact trajectory and timing of the explosive seed, Valen's flawless countermeasure was already in motion. It was executed perfectly, nullifying the explosive threat. With the ceiling breached and the danger averted, the heroes wasted no time, launching themselves upward and escaping through the jagged hole in the roof of The Council's Hall.
Below them, King Thornoe roared in absolute fury. His lime-green eyes glowed with menacing intensity as he leaped through the opening after them. Pushing off the very air with raw physical might, the towering brawler crashed onto the ground outside with earth-shattering force.
"Thornbind Dominion!" Thornoe bellowed.
Channeling his massive energy into the earth, colossal thorn vines erupted from the ground across a wide radius, twisting and lashing out in a desperate bid to ensnare everyone. But against the elite heroes of the 5 Universes, the attempt was futile. They fluidly evaded the grasping vines, landing in tactical positions around the King.
Seizing the opening, Kiera Voss—her body radiating the near-divine power of her ultimate VWCS form—and Kenshiro Takamura launched a simultaneous assault.
Moving at speeds that defied comprehension, Kiera struck first. "Venomous Precision!" she declared, targeting Thornoe's exact pressure points with surgical accuracy to disrupt his internal energy flows and disable his defenses.
A split second later, Kenshiro channeled his cosmic energy into his blade. "Dragon’s Fang Strike!" he shouted, delivering an immense, force-heavy blow imbued with the power of a dragon.
The combined might of the two devastating attacks landed perfectly. Thornoe was violently thrown backward, his massive body crashing heavily into the ground and carving a deep trench into the stone.
Kenshiro, however, knew better than to let his guard down. "The King isn't done just yet," the samurai warned, leaping high into the air to press the advantage.
Focusing his warrior spirit, Kenshiro drew his katana in a single, lightning-fast motion. "Tenken Battō: Iai," he whispered. The blindingly fast slash of energy cut through the air, landing perfectly on the downed King.
Not missing a beat, Kiera followed up. Extending her energy into a dark, whip-like form, she shouted, "Venom Lash!". The lethal whip struck Thornoe with bone-breaking force, immobilizing him further.
King Thornoe lay effectively defeated on the ground. It was a breathtaking display, a true testament to the overwhelming strength and coordination of the 5 Universes' finest.
But suddenly, the air grew thick.
A deep, rumbling laugh echoed from the battered King. Above Thornoe's body, a glowing golden seed materialized—a potent variation of his Seed of Reclamation. The seed sank directly into his chest. Instantly, a surge of vitality washed over him, completely and fully restoring his broken body to its peak condition.
Kenshiro didn't wait for Thornoe to get to his feet. Dashing forward with unmatched speed, the samurai unleashed "Tenken Battō: Iai" once again.
But this time, it was different. Thornoe casually raised his arm, his hardened living armor effortlessly blocking the impossibly fast strike. With a wicked grin, the King countered, delivering a devastating, earth-shaking blow directly into Kenshiro's side that sent the samurai skidding backward in pain.
From a short distance away, Captain Valen and Elder Moros watched the horrifying turn of events.
"We are deep in the heart of enemy territory," Elder Moros warned, his ancient eyes scanning the perimeter. "We cannot afford a prolonged engagement here. The entire Main District will soon be upon us."
"Agreed," Valen said, his brilliant mind processing the data in milliseconds. "It is best to retreat. We do not have the strength necessary to confidently stay here and hold our ground."
In the foreground, Kenshiro and Kiera Voss were fighting desperately, using every ounce of their speed and skill to hold off King Thornoe in his newly healed and terrifyingly augmented state.
Knowing time was up, Valen's eyes emitted a brilliant, blinding glow.
"Essence Manifest: Quantum Strategy Nexus!" Valen commanded.
Instantly, Valen became the center of a swirling vortex of luminous threads and shifting cosmic maps. The sheer power of his ultimate form warped the space around them.
"Temporal Tactical Shift!" Valen yelled.
By altering the timeline and space of their immediate operational zone, a massive flash of strategic energy enveloped Kiera, Kenshiro, Elowen, Alaric, Moros, and Valen himself. In the blink of an eye, they were teleported entirely out of the Main District, leaving a roaring King Thornoe swiping at empty air.
The group crashed onto the hard, dry dirt of a barren wasteland.
Captain Valen immediately dropped to one knee, panting heavily as his Quantum Strategy Nexus powered down. The luminous threads faded, leaving him visibly drained.
"I teleported us far enough," Valen explained, his voice strained but steady. "I couldn't teleport us any further though. The cognitive load and energy tax of maintaining my Essence Manifest to bypass the Main District's barriers is too severe to sustain".
Captain Elowen, emitting her soothing Lifebloom Aura, rushed over to the frontline fighters. "Kiera, Kenshiro, are you two alright?" she asked urgently, her hands glowing with healing energy.
"We are fine," Kiera said, catching her breath as she powered down from her VWCS form.
Kenshiro gripped his bruised side, his expression grave. "We are alright, but Thornoe... his strength was significantly higher than when we first defeated him moments ago. It was almost like his true form was awakened with whatever that seed was."
Suddenly, Captain Arcturus Valen dropped to one knee, coughing violently and clutching his chest as the agonizing physical toll of his power wreaked havoc on his internal organs.
Elder Moros watched him with a mixture of concern and profound curiosity. Stepping forward, the ancient sage finally voiced the question that had been burning in all of their minds. "Captain Valen, how is it that you have unlocked the Essence Manifest? It is such a lost power, and so few possess it. Why have you never shared this discovery to aid the Vanguard?"
Valen coughed again, a trace of blood appearing at the corner of his mouth as he forced himself to speak. "I didn't keep it a secret out of selfishness, Moros," he rasped, his breath rattling in his chest. "I kept it hidden because it is a death sentence. Lord Kaipo unlocked this power through The Soul’s Unveiling—a meditation requiring the flawless, natural alignment of mind, body, and soul. I am artificially mimicking that alignment."
Valen struggled to his feet, his brilliant mind still processing the lingering pain. "The only reason I can hold this synthetic cosmic frequency is because my Planetary Battlefield Insight allows my brain to process and adjust my soul's micro-fluctuations in real-time. If anyone else attempted to force this alignment without my exact sensory processing abilities, they would miscalculate the frequency by a fraction of a percent. That dissonance wouldn't just fail to unlock the power—it would instantly obliterate their soul."
He gestured to his trembling hands. "Even with my abilities, my body is tearing itself apart just trying to hold it for these few seconds. To teach this to our soldiers would not be giving them a weapon... it would be handing them a method of spiritual suicide."
Elder Moros stroked his silver beard, his ancient eyes softening with profound respect. "I see," the elder murmured. "You truly are special. Enough to be a Captain of the great Queen Nia."
Captain Elowen Virellis stepped forward, her soothing Lifebloom Aura trying to ease Valen's pain, though her expression was urgent. "We must hurry back to Fort Vigilance," she chimed in. "King Thornoe could send forces to get us at any moment."
"Do not worry," Captain Valen said, waving a dismissive hand as he regained his perfect military posture. "We are 500 miles away from the Main District."
Despite his reassurance, Valen’s expression turned grim. "However, we still need another way to get to Fort Vigilance. Do any of you really know how big the Land of Spade is?"
The group exchanged uncertain glances. Kiera Voss and Kenshiro Takamura offered out their puny guesses, naming distances that would cover normal planets or solar systems.
Captain Valen shook his head. "No. The Land of Spade is approximately 5 quintillion miles. It is bigger than all 5 Universes combined. There is no possible way we would travel and make it in time. We would die before we make it by foot. We need another way."
Captain Elowen gasped at the sheer scale of the land, but an idea quickly struck her. "What about Solari?" she asked, turning to Captain Valen and Captain Voss. "Should we check the little bags she usually packs for us to see what's in them?"
Remembering Solari’s dimensional compression Supply Cubes, Captain Elowen, Captain Voss, and Captain Valen quickly rummaged through their specialized gear. They pulled out various tools and emergency supplies, but after a frantic search, they didn't find anything in terms of teleportation.
A heavy silence fell over the group as the grim reality of their situation set in. They were stranded in the vast, endless expanse of enemy territory.
Suddenly, a voice echoed through the barren wasteland.
"Need help?"
Everyone immediately went on high alert, confused at who this person was that could have tracked them all the way out here. But as the figure got closer, Kiera Voss and Captain Alaric Voss noticed the man instantly.
A single tear rolled down Kiera’s cheek as she let her guard down, her voice trembling with emotion. "Brother... it's you."
Standing before them, a sniper rifle resting casually over his shoulder, was none other than Xavian "Deadshot" Voss.
