It's the year 2030 and The United States has turned into two pieces of land divided by The 36th parallel, these respective sides being named "Northern" Nation and "Southern" Nation. This change was so sudden that the population of the South were easy to mould into what the monstrous Deceivers stapled as a star citizen of the country: residents of Hemlock who abided by every single rule. Or, as an intelligent person would say, more so mindless pawns who've fallen into believing Hemlock's propaganda during the midst of turmoil caused by the ongoing war.

Down in the Southeast portion of the Southern Nation was a city who swears that "no crimes", "no lies" and "good times" comes with living within its borders. Currently all residents of Hemlock, but one, believed these lies told to them. That one person had opened their mind, figuring out that the government's words were nothing but obvious lies to further push their propaganda onto every. single. person. He was the only one who could make some kind of change.

That person is...
Subject 1116, who prefers to go by the name "Blue"—matching his overall blue colour scheme; blue hair and a blue shirt, which he wore almost all the time—minus work as it requires a uniform, and one other shirt...

Blue was indubitably considered to be in poverty like most residents of Hemlock, considering that he had very few necessities. Since jobs have gone back to paying scarily low wages, and prices only rose from there, he couldn't get what he needed. The more that time passed the more frequently Blue had to steal all he could from shops and other citizens. But even with stealing... many basic necessities were cut out of the picture so he could afford his medicine, Vyvanse. It could be called an addiction at this point; he "can't" live without it.

Hemlock was terribly crowded with people, the city never slept and it was impossible for any kind of peace or normality—due to the everlasting missiles launching from the two missile sites, one located by the naval port and the other at the top of the Gulf of Hemlock... Vyvanse was Blue's escape from this treacherous city, even if it always gave him intense, negative side effects from overdosing whenever he had his hands on the drugs.

Another escape for him was art, but in present day it's unfortunately illegal to even talk about it positively in Hemlock. He wanted to make endless amounts of art ranging from music to paintings, drawings and even journal down all of the messy thoughts he has. Blue loved all of it, he really did... but Hemlock was the complete opposite of who he really is as a person. Every living second Blues existence was quite literally being ridiculed by Deceivers, Infiltrators and even residents... saying that any creative things are done by AI only. It was a dystopian mindset that everyone seemed to believe now.

It's been two years since the border across the 36th Parallel was built and everything's gone downhill from there. All of what made humans unique were banned, like art as mentioned and many more like religion, free speech and a massive ban on books. They banned books that contained even just the smallest things of what Hemlock wanted to destroy like love and strong political ideas that would make residents realise how grim of a city that Hemlock is and so on.

But there IS hope for Blue, and that lies within The Tree.
