Now that we had thought out how we were going to share my room and relaxed for a little we were now unpacking the little that Kenza had brought here.

Almost as soon as we sat down after finishing unpacking Alice came into my room to tell us dinner was done.

My family usually eat altogether at the table but I’m worried about that now that Kenza is here. I don’t want my parents to be mean to her or anything like that.

I walked towards the door, making sure Kenza was following me, to go downstairs. Her facial expressions show that she’s worried about going down there, I would be too if I was her. She’s already dealt with my parents bad side, she doesn’t need to see it again. I don’t know how she can handle all this so soon after everything that’s happened to her.

We slowly walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. Everyone was already sitting around the table dishing out food.

“Glad you could join us.” Mom says sarcastically. I ignore her and sit down next to Alice. Kenza sits on my other side and we start dishing out our own food.

The dinner was silent and going pretty good but then my mom had to ruin it. “So Kenza, why did Luke bring you into our house again?” She says in a fake concerned voice.

I glanced at Kenza out of the corner of my eye, she looks like she’s going to be sick, so I reach under the table and grab her hand to comfort her.

“She had nowhere else to go and she’s one of my best friends.” I say, so that Kenza wouldn’t have to. I hoped that that would have ended all conversation but I was wrong.

“Well I better not end up with any grandkids running around here.” Mom snaps to us. I squeeze Kenza’s hand, hoping my parents aren’t bothering her too much. They were pissing me off. i don’t get why they can’t just leave us alone, I’m just helping her it’s not like she has any other place to go.

“Just stop Mom. We’re responsible and if you don’t remember when I was in the coma I lived on my own and even took care of Alice because you guys weren’t there. I know how to take care of myself. And you can just leave Kenza alone, she’s been through enough already she doesn't need you guys being rude to her too!” I snap at my parents. Kenza was now gripping my hand as tight as I was hers.

Nobody said anything after that so I stood up, grabbed my plate and pulled Kenza along with me, who grabbed her plate also.

When we got to the bottom of the stairs I turned around to say, “Please just leave us alone unless you guys are gunna be nice.” I say softly and then walk up the stairs, still holding Kenza’s hand.

As soon as we were in my room I instantly apologized for how my parents were acting. I can’t believe they are being so rude to her, they need to chill out.

We stay in the warm comforting hug for a few minutes. I’m the one that pulled away first and then walk over to my bed.

I wasn’t tired yet because of the nap we took earlier in the day, I was just coming to sit down.

I turn on the TV and we watch it for a while, laying in my bed. We watched a few episodes of Supernatural before we got bored and wanted to do something else.

“Hey, we should go shopping for new clothes and all that.” Kenza says sitting up in bed, after thinking about what to do.

“Okay, you stay up here and I’ll go talk to my parents and see if they’ll give me any money to get stuff.” I say as I walk out my room and down the stairs.

I find them in the living room also watching TV. “I’m going shopping for clothes and stuff since I have none can I have some money to get some, please?” I ask them. I was trying to ask nice so they would actually give me some money instead of a straight up no.

It must have worked because I see Dad grab his wallet out of his pocket and hand me two $100 dollar bills. “Here, take your sister with you.”

I take that as my cue to leave and hurry up the stairs to Alice’s room. I open her door and see her playing with some barbies and cars. “You want to go shopping with me and Kenza?” I ask when she notices me standing in her doorway.

“Yep.” She says, and with that we go to find Alice. She was already downstairs waiting on us, we got in the car and I drove us to the mall.

We had fun trying on clothes and making fools of ourselves. We randomly grabbed clothes and had to try them on, we took a whole bunch of pictures on our phones too. I think Alice had the most fun, she would make us try on the most ridiculous things and make us pose for her to take pictures.

The three of us all got new clothes and shoes, Alice didn’t get as much but she got some stuff.

It was a lot of fun. By the time we got home it was late, almost one in the morning, and we were all tired. I didn’t want to have to deal with my parents but they were already in bed when we got back so I didn’t have to worry about that.

Once we had all our new stuff in our rooms I made sure Alice was in bed and then Kenza and I passed out almost immediately on our separate sides of the bed.
