Julie pushed through the thick green fog, one hand covering her mouth, the other stretched out in front of her, trying to see through the toxic haze. She could still hear Tora's warning about the fog being poisonous, but strangely, her body felt fine. There was only a tingling sensation on her skin, a mild irritation that seemed insignificant compared to what she was supposed to feel.

As her pace quickened, she caught sight of a shadow moving in the fog. Her heart leapt.

"Trevor," she whispered, her voice barely audible as she broke into a run, adrenaline surging. "Trevor, I'm coming for you."

The creature staggered into a dark alley, its once-human form barely recognizable. Pale, rotting skin hung from its body, large chunks missing, exposing raw, pulsating muscle underneath. Dark, congealed blood dripped from every open wound, pooling at its feet. Pieces of its flesh clung loosely, torn and frayed, revealing jagged bone and organs that pulsed with each shallow breath. Every step it took was accompanied by a low, wet squelch, the sound of meat tearing itself apart.

A moan of agony escaped its mouth, lips cracked and peeling away from its needle-like teeth. Every inch of its body was in torment, decaying faster than it could regenerate. Its pale, bloodshot eyes darted around, wide with madness, seeing nothing but hunger. The word "flesh" repeated over and over in its mind, like a broken record, as whatever remained of its sanity unraveled into nothing.

Suddenly, a shadow fell over the creature, and it turned, its milky white eyes locking onto Julie, who stood at the mouth of the alley.

It let out a low growl, grinding its sharp teeth together as it slowly twisted its head toward her. Blood and drool mixed in its open mouth, dripping onto the ground. The creature took a step forward, dragging one clawed hand along the stone wall, the sound of nails on stone echoing down the alleyway.

"Trevor, please..." Julie's voice wavered as she took a step back, her heart pounding in her chest. "Trevor, it's me! Snap out of it! You can fight this!"

But the thing that had once been Harold took no notice. Its eyes were vacant, its face twisted into something that no longer resembled the person she knew. Her words were met with silence, the only sound being the ragged breathing of the monster in front of her.

Julie's desperation grew. "Please... Trevor... don't do this!" Her voice cracked, pleading with a creature that could no longer hear her. But it didn't stop. Its fingers twitched, mouth slowly opening, wide, impossibly wide, until its jaw unhinged with a grotesque crack. The forked tongue inside lashed out, flicking past its blood-stained teeth.

Before she could react, the creature lunged, its massive hand closing around Julie's neck, lifting her into the air with terrifying ease. She gasped for breath, her feet kicking helplessly as she clawed at the cold, decayed hand gripping her throat. The smell of rot overwhelmed her senses, the creature's grip tightening as it pulled her closer to its gaping, bloody maw.

Julie stared down into the creature's open mouth, past the jagged teeth and the slick, rotting flesh, into the black void that had once been her friend. Its white eyes glowed with hunger, its once-human form now a twisted mockery of life.

The forked tongue lashed at her, tasting the air, tasting her, as drool dripped from its jaw onto her chest. Its left hand, already beginning to shift and morph, twisted into long, fleshy claws.

This was it. In that moment, as she felt her breath slip away, Julie understood with cold, crushing clarity.

"Trevor is gone.." she thought. Tears welled in her eyes as she gave in to the terrifying truth, her body going limp in the creature's grip.

A blur cut through the air with precision, severing the creature's arm in a single, clean strike. The Fae shrieked in agony, its severed limb hitting the ground with a sickening thud, dark blood splattering across the alley. Julie's vision blurred as the world spun, but then, in an instant, she found herself cradled in someone's arms.

Her eyes fluttered open to see Tora staring down at her with a smirk.

"As reckless as ever," he said, shaking his head in mock disappointment.

Julie gasped, feeling the tightness in her chest fade as Tora slowly set her back on her feet. Her legs wobbled beneath her, but Tora held her steady before turning toward the creature. His playful grin returned as he took in the pitiful state of the Fae.

"You don't look so good," he said with a chuckle. "And you sure don't smell so good either."

The Fae, now a writhing mass of exposed muscle and flaking, rotted flesh, growled low, its remaining claws elongating, scraping against the cobblestones with a grating sound. Its hollow eyes burned with primal hunger, no trace of reason left.

Tora sighed, rolling his shoulders in preparation. "Well, now that it's come to this, I think it'd be best to end this, don't you?" He turned his head slightly toward Julie, waiting for a response, though he knew one wouldn't come.
She stared blankly at the monster, lost in the grief that clung to her.

Tora, his usual humor still bubbling beneath the surface, raised his hand. Blue light began to flicker, slowly at first, then growing brighter, casting long shadows in the alley. "Didn't think so," he muttered under his breath as the blue flame coiled around his arm like a serpent. With a sudden burst of speed, his body became a blur of movement, the blue flames trailing behind him as he charged forward.

The Fae, its mouth stretched to an unnatural length, let out a guttural howl as it lunged. Its jaw unhinged, stretching wider and wider, ready to consume Tora in one bite. But Tora was faster.

With a fierce shout, Tora slammed his hand into the creature's chest, and the blue flames ignited with a roar. The fire tore through the creature's body, piercing through its chest and exploding out its back in a column of searing light.

The creature let out an ear-splitting screech as blue fire engulfed it entirely, licking at its decaying flesh and turning it to ash. Its screams filled the alley, bouncing off the walls as its body was consumed by the inferno.

Julie watched, frozen, as her friend-no, what was left of him-burned before her eyes. Tears spilled down her cheeks, her throat tightening with the overwhelming weight of grief. She wanted to scream, to beg for it to stop, but no words came.

As the flames began to die down, Julie spotted something small moving within the fire. It twitched and writhed, a grotesque little form thrashing in pain, still clinging to life.

Her breath caught in her throat as she scanned the ground frantically. Her eyes landed on a rusted steel pipe, half-buried beneath debris. Without thinking, she grabbed it, her hands trembling as she lifted the heavy metal rod.

The creature's high-pitched wailing grew louder as its skin peeled away, revealing white, exposed bones beneath the charring flesh.

Julie's knuckles turned white as she gripped the pipe tighter. Then, with a shout of pure rage and sorrow, she swung it with all her might. The pipe crashed into the creature, sending it sprawling to the ground.

It screeched again, its shrill voice clawing at her ears, but Julie didn't stop. She swung the pipe again, and again, smashing the creature into the ground with every ounce of strength she had. Its blood-now glowing blue from the flames-splattered across her face and clothes, but she didn't care.

Each impact shook her to her core, each sickening crunch of bone breaking beneath her blows only spurring her on further. She smashed it until the shrieks turned into gurgles, and the gurgles became whimpers. She kept going even after the whimpers fell silent, pounding the mangled remains of what had once been Harold into the pavement, until all that was left was a smear of blue blood and pulped flesh.

Her breaths came in ragged gasps as she finally dropped the pipe, its weight pulling her arms down like lead. She stood there, staring down at the glowing stain on the ground, her tears mixing with the blood splattered on her cheeks.

"Trevor... I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice barely audible, the last vestiges of her strength draining from her body.

The pipe slipped from her fingers, clattering to the ground with a hollow, empty sound.
