I miss the days when little kids looked up at you with sparkles in their eyes and the undeniable expectation that you knew everything in the world and you would tell them no lies... Now they've got phones and tablets and all sorts of other devices connected to the net. You tell them something, and they go look it up, whether because of the slightest bit of doubt or just to see the "facts" with their own eyes... Then your lie falls apart, and they get independent and have solid opinions of their own... Mermaids are real, damn it!
