It’s always interesting seeing what a writer chooses to focus on in their stories. Do you care more about the characters, the plot, or the overall experience?

Honestly? I don't give a damn. I just sit
down, stick a pen in the paper, and start writing. The great writer Jaroslav
Hašek, in his novel "The Good Soldier Švejk," has his hero say a
wonderful line: "Let it be what it will be — somehow it'll be. It has
never been that it couldn't be."

@Mr Tiger,Haha, I actually like that approach. Sometimes overthinking what the story should be can get in the way, and just sitting down and letting the words come naturally can lead to something really genuine. That quote fits your way of writing pretty well too What usually makes you pick up the pen and start a new story in the first place?
